Farrah Fawcett was the David Caruso of the 1970s, except much, much bigger. But for all her poster-selling powers, she wasn't bigger than Aaron Spelling's killer concept. Angels explained Fawcett's absence with a couple of lame lines in the first minutes of season two ("She's in Spain right now. She's practicing for a big race."), and went jiggling on its way.

Yeah, it was a pretty lame excuse but maybe they did it that way to stick it to Farrah. I remember reading when she did the 1978 movie Somebody Killed Her Husband (which sounds like the title for a Lifetime TV movie rather than a theatrical release), it tanked so bad that a reviewer dubbed it "Somebody Killed Her Career"!! OUCH!!

I'm really surprised that Farrah's movie career (in the 1970s) took a nosedive after leaving CA, especially with her being so popular.

I don't think it was a lame excuse at all, considering they brought her back for guest appearances, one of which was heavily centered on Jill's racing career. I thought it was a fun and creative exit.
