Default Fox's 'Breaking In' To Get Another Chance?

Can Breaking In come back from the dead a second time? Well, it is possible. I hear that Fox may reconsider the bombshell Tuesday night cancellation of the midseason comedy starring Christian Slater. Fox is in discussions with Breaking In producer Sony Pictures TV about possible ways to bring the show back next season, though no decision is expected to be made until after the upfronts last week. If it comes back from a second cancellation, Breaking In will become an instant TV legend as I can't think of another show that has done it more than once. For those who don't know the back story, Breaking In was Fox's highest-testing pilot last season but the network ended up passing on it last May, instead giving series orders to Raising Hope, Running Wilde and Traffic Light. Sony TV didn't give up, extending the options on the cast when they expired. Fox proceeded to order additional scripts and eventually picked up the show to series in November. Breaking In debuted strong, with the premiere ranking as the highest-rated Fox live-action comedy telecast in over 3 years with the best lead-in retention for a sitcom airing after American Idol in 4 years. The series, created by Adam Goldberg and Seth Gordon, subsequently slipped but remained consistent and, with such a short midseason run, was considered almost a lock for a second tryout next season.

"Breaking In" Still (Possibly) Alive
by Jean Bentley
posted May 14th 2011

All hope is not lost for the recently canceled Fox series "Breaking In".

According to Deadline, the network is moving the freshman comedy to its Tuesday night comedy block to see how it performs in that time slot.

"Breaking In" has only aired after "American Idol", so maybe a new audience on a new night could change things for the show.

The season (and possible series) finale will now air at 9:30PM on Tuesday.

I don't think it's going to do good on Tuesday... Fans will use the excuse i didn't know it switched time slots to why they didn't watch... it's going to do as bad, if not worse than Traffic Light has been preforming. if it does over a 2.0 and more than 4 million viewers it has a shot, considering its a FOX Comedy without an idol lead in in a time slot that has had 2 failed shows occupy it so far.

Exclamation 'Breaking In' Fans: If You Watch Tuesday's Finale, the Show Might Get Renewed

Is Tuesday night's episode of Breaking In the last episode ever?

If you didn't know Fox was airing the season finale of Breaking In on Tuesday, you're not the only one. It's not like Fox has been promoting the show it would like to see go away.

The show is one of TV's geek shows -- it recently did an episode set at Comic-Con involving The Goonies -- and it consistently attracts an audience of about 7 million viewers. Much more than Tuesday's lead-in, Raising Hope, whose season average has been about 6 million.

Not good enough for Fox, which may find Breaking In too niche (read: too geeky) and not strong enough with female audiences.

They canceled the show, then gave it some hope, saying a renewal will depend on the finale's ratings. Then, instead of airing it on its usual Wednesday slot, the network is airing it Tuesday night. Opposite ratings juggernaut Dancing With the Stars. Yikes.

So if you want more Breaking In, tune in to Tuesday's finale, which, by the way, features Mike Tyson and Voltron.

Apparently, FOX extended the actors contracts thru November, keeping the series in limbo for a possible midseason pick up!
