Default 2 of the biggest mysteries about this show that was never adressed in any episode

1. Why did the girs have Jack move in in the first place if there wasn't the hopes of one of them making out with him?

I mean they only had him move in because they were attracted to him so why didn't one of them show interest in a relationsip that wasn't plaonic? That's me losing my APT and then meeting two girls who asked me to move in with them only to find out I wouldn't be makingout with either one of them-lol I mean the fact that he was asked to move in and didn' have a job was enough reason to think he would get to play with ONE of them when the other wasn't home.

2. Why would the girls let a complete stranger move in and allow him to have his own room instead of having him sleep on the couch?

Who would inconvience themselves to make things BETTER for someone they just met??-lol

I guess what I'm really trying to say is after so many years I now realize how UNREALISTIC this show really was-lol

First off, we have to remember that Threes Compnay was not the producers or writers idea. The idea was taken from The British series Man about the house. Infact the pilot was almost indenticle to The man about the house counterpart. Second, in order to make the show work, it had to be that story line even if it seems unlikely. And the more the girls got to know Jack in the pilot episode, I think they realized he was harmless. Also I know that if I were an equal share in the rent, I wouldn't be sleeping on the couch if there were a bedroom empty. Would you?

It wouldn't have been a empty bedroom since Janet wpuld have been in one room and Chrissy in the other

...and a great cook. Actually, I remember Chrissy bringing up a point and Janet replying "Minus!" and I think it was the "He's cute" part.

They needed him to help pay the rent. Of course he'd have his own bedroom!

He didn't have a job in season 1

I was referring to the pre-Jack days in Apartment 201, I think Jack's room was Eleanor's.
I could be wrong though, it's been a long time since I've seen Season 1.

neither Janet nor Chrissy could cook at ALL - Eleanor did all the cooking, and their intended new roommate was undesirable, so they chose Jack over her

Yeah, the one room with the twin beds had always been Janet and Chrissy's. Eleanor had moved out of the other room literally the day before. Since they were planning on moving in a new roommate as soon as possible, neither one of them would have bothered to move their stuff into Eleanor's old room.

While I think their general motivations for taking Jack in made sense (good cook, paying 1/3 of the rent, didn't like the other girl who came to look at the house), even if they had no sexual interest in him, I still think it's odd that they would take a strange man in. Yes, he seemed really nice, but appearances can be deceiving.
