Default I'm back - and have drama to report.

This is a very, very strange thing that has happened, and I kind of wanted a familiar friend to turn to, so yes, Miss Liza has returned, and she apologizes for her long absence. (You guys know me, I'm never REALLY gone!)

Anyways, here's the story. My coworker, (I'll call her Leslie), whom I've never been especially close with, but have known for several years, has had her husband convicted of a felony. A really, really bad one. Think of the worst crime you can imagine and double it.

Okay, a couple of things here: Leslie and her husband have not been married that long, about three to four years. Les has been married before, and has one daughter from her previous husband (who passed away). I have met her current/estranged husband before - I met him shortly after their marriage, and again at a dinner hosted by our boss.

Okay, here's the big thing. This man has been convicted of a felony so terrible I have trouble typing it. It is impossible for me to believe that I actually sat across from this man and had dinner with him once. That's how bad it is. He... abused his own children and stepdaughter in the worst way an adult can abuse a child. He was convicted, and then later, when another child accused him, pled guilty.

I was reading the story online (they published his conviction and 30+ year sentance in the paper) and saw how people were saying that monsters like him should be castrated. I understand where they're coming from, but this man is still the husband of my friend. Now Leslie has already started divorce proceedings, and I hope she can get it done quickly, but it's so unbelievable. This stuff only happens in the soaps, right? It's not supposed to happen to people we know and see every day.

Anyways, I'm going to ask for you guys to pray for Les and her daughter (and his own daughters as well) because they need them now more than anything.

What causes a man or woman to sexually abuse his/her own children? A person
like that(and I use the term person loosely) is the sickest person imaginable.

It might be hard for you to believe, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. Unfortunately, things like this do happen in real life. Children are violated in horrific ways.

Sadly, many child molesters get away with what they do. I think the sex offenders should be punished.

Things like this do happen, Liza, even if we don't think that they can. I will be praying for you and your co-worker and her children

I think everyone agrees they should be punished. I don't doubt that it happened - on the contrary, I'm convinced that it did. What I can't believe is how Leslie could have been so wrong about a person she married, and that I ever exchanged even five words with such a monster.

Thanks. I don't usually use fake names here, but under the circumstances, I think you can understand why I did.

Hi Liza. Nice to see you back. So sorry to hear about your friend and her children. It's terrible, and sad to say, all too common these days. I think just about everyone knows someone or about someone with a child abuse story. It's so sad, and the cruelty is unimaginable. Children are so defenseless. Same goes for animals. I'll keep Leslie and her children in my prayers.

I totally understand. And it's okay. God knows exactly who we're talking about when we pray for her and the girls.
