Please remove this thread. I'm sorry I hurt someone so much, apparently, by referring to fan fiction. They say it's a ghetto of writing, and from their reaction I just feel like I probably brought back some painful memories for them.

You went to fanfiction.net?

This thread is largehuge so bookmark it but it will answer all of your sorted questions about fandom. Fandom is weird crap, I mostly stay out of it and make fun of those who participate from the sidelines.

By the way, Fan Fiction is the ghetto of the literary world.

Apparently you've never read some of the very well put together fanzines from before tne 'Net killed them off. There are really good stories out there.

It's true, though, that a lot of stories out there are probably not very good. I think Hogan's Heroes does cater to a higher standard than some probably do - most of the stories there are quite good and involve real missions with great action. You're missing some great writing. I don't read very many of the stories, but in the 2-3 fandoms I do it's good to encourage young writers.

Aw, why not, it's not one of mine, but read if you dare. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6469705/1/Perfect_Pitch It's rated T (equivalent of PG-13) and involves a really good mission, accordign to all the reviews, very clever and probably a Papa Bear Award winner.

I'd hate to think I'd encounter somone so judgmental that they can't bring themselves to see any good in it. If I hurt you that much I'll just remove my post. I'm sorry.
