I know that "Stretch Cunningham" aka James Cromwell won a best actor Oscar, but were there any others who eventually became bigger than the cast themselves?

Some notable guest stars were Gregory Sierra, Charlotte Rae, Barnard Hughes, Tony Geary, Billy Crystal, Jack Gilford, Gloria LeRoy, and many others. Of those I listed, Crystal was probably at least as famous as the cast, but maybe not moreso.
