This is from Robert Hegyes' website:
http://roberthegyes.com/kotter4.html "If you were to go to the Museum of Radio and Television for the audition tapes of Welcome Back, Kotter, you would find a young and beautiful Farrah Fawcett auditioning for Gabe's wife against Marcia Strassman pictured here." |

Wow! If Farrah had won the role of Julie Kotter she probably would never have been one of Charlie's Angels. I'm kind of glad she didn't get the role!

I can't even imagine Farrah as Mrs. Kotter. I can't even visualize her and Gabe together!! I'm glad they went with someone who was still beautiful but who had such a down-to-earth quality - Marcia Strassman.

I think it all worked out for the best. Marcia was great as Mrs. Kotter and Farrah was Charlie's Angel.

Farrah would've totally taken over the show had she been cast. "Mr. Kotter WHO? Barbarino WHO?"

Donna Mills wanted the role too. I could have seen her in the role but like Farrah, she would have been to glamorous for the role. |

Donna Mills? I hadn't heard that one. Good thing, too, because I can't even imagine her on a sitcom, much less WBK. Thankfully, she got the role of a lifetime a few years later - Abby Fairgate on Knots Landing.

Maybe Donna and Farrah could have pulled it off. Dihann Carroll was a jetsetter and she was able to tone it down enough to play "Julia".
