Think about this; 34 years after Elvis' death, his fans are still buying his repackaged records, movies and memorabilia.
Would Cheers fans flock to the theater to see a Cheers movie if one were made. Or are you all content that the final episode did justice to this truly special show? |

The final episode was fine. Reunions are usually bad.
I say, leave well enough alone. |

Certainly disagree with you there.
All the characters are still healthy and performing. From what I have read on this board, some of them would love to rekindle the spark that fired Cheers into the top rating of sitcoms. The Cheers writers were brilliant. I have no doubt that they could produce a memorable script one more time. I for one would pay whatever the cost to see the gang at Cheers have one more for the road. |

As long as it was in the spirit of a regular episode, it would work fine.
I would certainly watch. The problem with a reunion (or any reunion) is that it tends to have more drama than it really should. We were sad when they left, now we're happy they're back, but we're gonna be sad again because they are going. Even with sitcoms, the time away makes the characters take on a dramatic life of their own (in the minds of the fans). You can't treat them like they have the depth of a novel. |

You're onto something, dlemond. As long as they treat it as the "271st episode," and avoid the contrived plots or sentimentality of other reunions, a Cheers reunion could be fun.
No to "A Very Cheers Christmas," yes to a 21st century Cheers episode. |
