So my grandson Jim is planning to start his own TV network when he gets out of college. If Jim wants to start his own TV network, I have the following questions:
What professions, if any, should he major in? How can he make sure that his network doesn't become a failure? |

First-he should ask about copywritten stuff. If he wants to show TV Reruns, many shows are in estates so there may be a small fine for these.
I, myself would like to make a TV Show that plays bad movies and for awhile, we'll play Public Domain Films and while we riff the film, we'll have sketches in between, like the George Burns Juicer. |

1. He should consider majoring in communications (that's my major in college as I also want to work in the TV/Film industry in the future). Courses on TV/Film History, production, legal & ethical aspects of communications and also some advertising courses will be of great help.
2. IMHO he should do good research on what people want to watch, if there's a niche market out there that is being neglected, also visiting boards like this one. Hope this helps

Jim's television network is actually going to be one that features animated sitcoms/dramas. Several of which do not follow floating timelines (a situation where you have to stay the same age indefinitely), he hates those. What other carrers should he consider if he has good reading, writing, typing, drawing, computer, and internet skills?
