Final Appeal: Michael Lloyd Self, a gas station attendant was convicted of the murder two young girls, Sharon Shaw and Renee Johnson in Texas in 1971. Self claims that he is innocent and that he became the victim of two police officers who railroaded him.

If I remember correctly, someone posted an article on here a few years back that indicated Self died in prison of a heart condition. Some time after his death, the police revealed to the press a new theory that Self was innocent and a serial killer was responsible for the murders Self was convicted of, and possibly others in the state.
This is going from memory so may not be exact. If you search the boards, you can probably find the article and other discussions regarding his case. A tragic ending, in any event. |

Michael Lloyd Self did die in prison in 2000 of heart failure. I firmly believe he was as innocent as they get and his case gave me a whole different perspective on exactly how lousy the Texas Justice system actually is. I'm not saying that everything about the justice system is completely wrong. But in my opinion if you convict a man and at a later date another man walks into a police station and confesses to the crime and tells you the one piece of evidence that was held back and nobody knew it should be looked into instead of telling him he is nuts and to get out of there.

The name sounds familiar, but my memory of the segment is hazy. Is this over on the forbidden website?

Isn't this the case that the guy's alabi was that he was dozens of miles away watching Battlestar Gallactica with several friends?
If so, it's definitely on the site which shalt not be named. |

Unfortunately, I've never seen the Michael Lloyd Self case and it doesn't seem to be posted on the forbidden site.
However, I found an interesting thread about this case. Apparently, one of the prime suspects in the murders that Self was convicted of is Edward Harold Bell! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/...d.php?t=197392 |

My father and I firmly believe that Patrick Heffernan is the person responsible for the deaths of Rhonda Rene Johnson and Sharon Lynn Shaw. In no way was there any evidence whatsoever linking Michael Self to this case other than some illegally coerced confessions that did not cooberate the evidence in the case.
