I know this has been asked before, but I'm wondering if this new version has been successful helping solve any mysteries?

Not to my knowledge, no. I'd say like half the people interviewed in the new episodes are dead.

Well, Mahfuz Huq has been captured and Mike Reimer's remains have been found since the Farina version started airing in 2008. I don't know if there is a direct correlation between people watching the Farina episodes and that being a trigger to leading to these findings, but it's possible.

Also, Christopher Chichester was found as well, the suspect in the John and Linda Sohus dissapearance. But like you I'm not sure if the Farina episodes had anything to do with these cases being somewhat resolved. I don't have a problem with Farina, and I think its good they are showing these old cases again............ However, unless they modernize them with updates and start showing epilogues with Farina updating the current status of the case and the segment, and reactivate the 1-800 number, it becomes slightly more pointless as they are just rehashing the exact same out of date facts with Dennis Farina doing it. For instance they showed the Ricardo Caputo case the other day (one of the biggest scumbags ever profiled on UM by the way), but that case had been solved for years on a Robert Stack update. Although, one new fact was that the piece of trash died of a heart attack in prison, Stack didn't mention that so I suppose they are at least somewhat up to date. Still, they could do a little better with these updates on the Farina version though. And for God's sake reactivate the 1-800 number if nothing else. |

I think I heard about two years ago that this number is now the number for a roofing company.

I seriously doubt it. The ratings for the new UM gotta be abysmal. MAYBE a couple hundred thousand people watch it at best?
As many of us have stated WE NEED NEW EPISODES!!! |

It's back on Lifetime, isn't it? (transplanted yank now living in England...but I think I heard it was)
Didn't Lifetime make some new episodes when they were showing it before? That's why I have some hope that they might actually DO something with UM. Not that I'll see them anytime soon...here in england the american shows don't get here for ages! (that's why I watch them online lol) |

I caught the last ten minutes of the 5:00 show on Lifetime yesterday and there were two updates I'm curious about. The first concerns the Lisa Marie Kimmel case (finally finding her car and making an arrest in the case). The second involves a man who had been abandoned as an infant. He was left on the seat of a car in a predominantly Jewish area of Los Angeles back in the 1940's. The only clue authorities had to go on was a silk handkerchief that had been left with the baby. It had a W monogram and appeared to be a man's handkerchief. In that update, the man's half brother had come forward and a dna test confirmed they were siblings. The segment ended with an unidentified picture of a man he believes may have been his father. Viewers were asked to provide tips if they know the man's identity.
Were both these updates new to the Farina episodes? I was aware of the arrest in the Kimmel case but don't know if that info ever showed up on the old Robert Stack episodes. I also remember seeing the abandoned baby episode when it originally aired but don't think I ever saw an update before yesterday. Just wondering if the updates were indeed added to the Farina shows or were just rehashed from the original series. |

I think the Lisa Kimmel update was made by the new UM, i think... I believe the mans DNA was linked sometime after Stacks episodes, I could be wrong though, I know the date the man was arrested is on one of these threads or on the updates sticky thread. If it was after 2002 the update was made by the new UM. I am unsure about the other case.

honestly, i dont know if the Farina UM helped solve cases or not, but honestly, most of the cases are so old that i would be surprised if it was the new UM that help solve the cases. what's sad is that most of the cases are so old that the kidnapped kids who werent found would be adults noww, if they are alive.
