William Shatner Taps Star Power for Covers Album

William Shatner is prepping his third album, 'Searching for Major Tom', a collection of '70s and '80s rock covers due later this year.

Members of the Strokes, the Kinks, Yes, Deep Purple, as well as Peter Frampton and Bootsy Collins, will appear on the album.

No stranger to musical collaborations, Shatner previously worked with Ben Folds, Henry Rollins and Brad Paisley (who's also been tapped for Tom) on his last album, 2004's 'Has Been'.

William Shatner, to some, is a man who can do no wrong.

Now, the icon wants to enter the music scene by putting out a 2-disc album called 'Seeking Major Tom' consisting of covers and one original.

You can hear Captain Kirk do his rendition of Black Sabbath's classic track Iron Man, which features Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne) on guitars.
