Default Would the early Mama be freinds with Iola?

Do you think the early version of Mama from the NBC episodes would have been friends with Iola and hung out with her. I mean I think we are to assume they were always friends and ran around together BUT I just cannot see NBC Mama being friends with Iola.

If you're talking about Mama from "The Family" sketches on The Carol Burnett Show, I would say no! The original Mama seemed rather elderly and feeble, and showed no interest in having friends.

Well I'm also talking about Mama from the early episodes of Mama's Family, the ones that featured Fran, Buzz and Sonya. To me THAT Mama seems to grumpy to like Iola.

Yeah, I guess Mama went through 3 different phases. Its kind of weird, that Iola ended up being Mama's best friend, when she was in Vint and Eunice's age group. Why didn't they have Iola's mother be Mama's bff?

I don't see any reason she wouldn't have been. Iola would have been a good fit in the NBC years, but probably not on a regular basis as she was in the syndicated episodes.

I would like to hear the reason that Iola was not at Vint's and Naomi's wedding. Obviously she was not a character at that time, but in the syndicated episodes they say they have all been best friends all their lives, so I always assumed that Iola was around somewhere in the NBC episodes just off screen.

It seems though the syndicated episodes rewrote hisotry some, so I wonder if Iola WAS at the wedding from their veiwpoint in the syndicated episodes?

Iola always had a crush on Vint. Maybe she didn't attend the wedding because she was mad about Vint marrying Naomi.

I never really thought they rewrote history as much as just not including the family. Although a case that they did rewrite history is the late episode regarding Vint's possible impotence, where his two older children aren't mentioned.
