Report: "Idol's" Pia Toscano Lands Record Deal

Less than two days after her shocking "American Idol" elimination, Pia Toscano has scored a record deal, Us Weekly reports.

The former Season 10 front-runner has joined Interscope Records, whose chairman is Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine, according to the magazine.




"Pia is being signed to a deal with Interscope Records who are rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP," a source told Us Weekly.

"Interscope told her they wanted her and first thing Friday morning they started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it."

According to the source, paperwork is still being finalized, but it's basically a done deal.




Toscano, whose elimination stunned fans, the judges, her competitors and stars alike, said afterwards that she had a feeling she would be in the bottom three.

"I actually said it to my parents and they were like, 'Don't think like that, please don't think like that,'" she said.

"But whenever I have a feeling like that, it usually happens. My instincts are very good. I wish they weren't so good sometimes."

"American Idol" alum Jason Castro is going to be a dad.

The dreadlocked Season 7 finalist and his wife, Mandy Mayhall, are expecting a daughter in August, he announced on his website.



"We just found out yesterday that it is going to be a girl!" Castro wrote. "haha that makes me laugh... what am i going to do with a sweet little girl?! probably just smile alot... i cannot wait!!!"

Castro and Mayhall wed in January 2010.

Kelly Clarkson to Return to "American Idol" Stage Thursday

Kelly Clarkson will return to the "American Idol" stage Thursday, Fox announced.

The Season 1 winner, 28, will perform "Don't You Wanna Stay" with country singer Jason Aldean on Thursday's results show.

Rihanna will also take the stage Thursday.



Clarkson recently announced via Facebook that her fifth studio album will hit stores in September. She last appeared on "Idol" at the end of last season for a farewell performance to judge Simon Cowell.

This week, Idol's remaining top 8 will perform songs from the movies.
