Default Euro

Has anyone seen one of these? I've heard that they started putting them in some ATM machines yesterday morning...

In Europe, but I don't think anyone here lives there. Except Mossop who lives in Scotland, but they're not using Euros in the UK.

The latest country to adopt the Euro is Germany. They started using it at midnight on New Years Eve. Britain still uses good ol' pounds and pennies!
Jo's The Bomb - I'd be interested to know why you think the Euro seems "cool". Personally I think it's a terrible idea to have a single European currency. It's hard enough for countries to try and maintain their own cultural identity what with all the 'Americanisation' that's going on. I hate Europe with a passion! If Britain adopts the Euro, I'm gonna go'n dig a hole in the ground and live in it for the rest of my life!!!

I read it in the newspaper

...Maybe "cool" is not the right word to use, how about "new." Something new, let me mention that I have a special interest in collecting coins...

I'm not sure if it's a good or bad idea, but they are very shiny! Ok, not a good claim.

I agree with you! The big thing nowdays is to be a "team player" with no identity! In all things! The New World Order? Well hopefully the "Powers That Be" are doing the right thing! But I am very skeptical! I hope the U. K. keeps their individuality! Good for them!

Yes, Max, they look REALLY shiny...

There have been a few debates about these....

for example, the Eiffle Tower, now ONLY accepts Euros, while some cabbies refuses touch them...

I think the UK should adopt Euros. Pounds always confused me. You should see me trying to figure them out at home, lol.

Do you live in the UK? If not then what does it matter to you whether we adopt the Euro or not? I'll admit that if Europe had a single currency it would make travelling within it a lot easier (no worrying about exchange rates or suchlike) but I really, really don't see any need for it other than that.
Why do you find pounds confusing? 100 pennies in a pound - what could be simpler than that? It's not like we have things like dimes or whatever. What are dimes? (over here a Dime is a chocolate bar!) It's summat like 12 cents isn't it? Now that is unnessessarily confusing - why a weird number like 12???

Oh, and Newhart Fan - it's good to see you're with me on this!

A dime is equal to 10 cents.

No, I don't live in the UK. I plan on it someday. But anyways I know they are simple to you because I mean you live over there. But some things are harder to people while easier to others. This just happens to be confusing to me!
