Red face Alana De La Garza Nervous About Law & Order: LA Spinoff

Alana De La Garza has admitted that she felt nervous about joining the cast of Law & Order: Los Angeles.

The actress will reprise her role as ADA Connie Rubirosa from the original Law & Order in the spinoff, which is returning to NBC after a four-month hiatus.

She told TV Guide: "I was a little bit nervous about joining, especially when there's a change in things because they've all been together and you're kind of the newbie."

De La Garza revealed that she was "negotiating a pilot" when she first learned of the intention to bring back her Law & Order character.

"Literally, the next day I was supposed to go in for this thing," she explained. "A friend of the show said, 'Don't do anything rash. We're trying to resurrect Connie'.

"It happened kind of quickly. One day it's 'Hey, don't do anything rash' and the next day I got an offer."

She added that Law & Order: Los Angeles will now more closely resemble its parent series, following a substantial revamp.

"I think that [viewers] will genuinely like the formula," she said. "The formula is back a little bit more to where the original was."

Law & Order: Los Angeles returns to NBC on April 11 at 9/8c.

It will be nice to see her on LA, the other two ladies they had as ADAs so far never really made an impact to me. (Although, the show was only on for two months before this retooling!)

I am going to miss Skeet ulrich's Det. Winters. I am quite skeptical on Alfred Molina's character being the lead detective, I just don't see it working out.

Up til now, I didn't have a problem with Terrance Howard's DDA Decker, although he was such a jerk on last week's SVU crossover, I'm not so sure. (I know that he was probably written a little differently, it being a different series plus they needed him to have conflict with Casey Novack.)

I just feel that 8 aired episodes wasn't enough time to air a series before making such drastic changes. It had already been picked up for a full season, so it must have been doing OK.

Agree with all of the above! I love Alana and am glad to see her remaining with a L&O franchise after the demise of the original, but I am curious to see how they handle her transition. Could be a stretch....Terrance's appearance on SVU seemed a bit that way IMHO.
