Default Kim Finally Cuts "You Know Whose" Apron Strings

I just watched this episode, which served as the pilot for the never picked-up Lucie Arnaz spin-off. Interesting we meet Lucy's brother (and Kim's uncle), Herb Hinkley. Therefore, are we to assume Lucy Carter's maiden name is Hinkley? Its also strange that Lucy is never in a scene with her brother Herb, that Herb has never come by the Carter house, and that Alan Oppenheimer, who played Herb, plays another character at some point.

Except that in a fifth season episode, she says her maiden name is McGillicuddy.

Strange, for sure. And I could almost swear there's a bit of dialogue in an early episode where it's revealed Harry is Kim and Craig's only uncle.

Darn, I knew I couldn't just go with Lucy's maiden name being Hinkley! Well, I guess Mr. Hinkley must have been her half-brother or step-brother! OR Did Lucille Ball have a flashback to I Love Lucy, and thought she was Lucy Ricardo instead of Lucy Carter, when she said her maiden name was MiGillicuddy!

Yes, there is that possibility or . . . . sloppy writing.

Lucy Carmichael must have also had that same flashback. In one episode, her maiden name is revealed to be Taylor, but later in the series, it was none other than MacGillicuddy! Then again, Lucy Carmichael also went from being a college graduate, to just a high school graduate to a high school dropout. And in 1967, she took a trip to London. A year later she says she's never traveled out of the country before. (How could she forget her trip to London???) I think these Lucys may have been suffering some form of amnesia.

Okay, now I just watched Lucy and the all Nun Band, which starts out with Mary Wickes walking in as a nun who happens to be Harrison Carter's sister. Well Lucy and Harry are sister and brother-in-law, so wouldn't the nun be Lucy's sister-in-law, and Kim's aunt? Yet they just keep refering to her as Harry's sister. I can't believe the writers back then never thought these things out!!!

Yes, it's true they never specifically point out that she's Lucy's sister-in-law, but this conversation is only between Lucy and Harry. So I don't know why they would have to mention that, especially in the context of what they're talking about, which is Harry's family (mother, father, sister). And the Mary Wickes character does clearly already know Lucy when she comes into the office (she's calling her by name, Lucille), so it seems a safe assumption to me that they realize their own personal relationship.

That Lucie Arnaz pilot was awful.

Yes Lucy tells Harry in one episode he is Kim and Craig's only Uncle.

I think Alan Oppenheimer plays a diffeent character in season 5.
