Default Your First LP Purchase

Read carefully (first LP as in 33/3 record, not a CD)

Mines was 1999 by Prince

i think that the first actual record that I went to a record store and purchased all by myself was Quiet Riot - Metal Health

LP records were already on their way out by about this time, I didn't really buy a lot of them, but we had tons in the house by then.

I'm pretty sure that the first LP I bought was The Beatles 1 two-record set back in 2001. The packaging is beautiful, and it comes with full-sized posters and the Richard Avedon Beatles portraits, but the mastering on it is just as terrible as the CD!

Actually, the first TWO LP record albums that I got were purchased for me by
my mother at the same time and they were both Colpix TV soundtrack albums: Huckleberry Hound and Quick Draw McGraw. I still have
them and by now have heard them both a zillion times. Back in the pre-video
era, a soundtrack album was as close as you could get to enjoying your
favorite TV show when it wasn't being aired. Of course, like radio, you had to
use your imagination. And, thanks to the photos and liner notes, I finally got
to see what Daws Butler and Don Messick actually looked like and learn some
background about two of my favorite voice actors!

I won most all of the Lp's I ever had off the radio stations in my area.

First Lp I ever won was Book of Dreams - Steve Miller Band

First Lp I ever purchased albeit with someone elses money was Even Now - Barry Manilow. My Brother and I were visiting my Aunt and Uncle in Flint Michigan and she took us on a tour of the area including Detroit and into Canada. We stopped at a Grapevine or Sam Goody store (can't recall which) and she let us pick out one each. I was 13 at the time and if I'd known anything about Northern Soul music I would've begged to hit the Goodwill stores and thrift shops.

First LP bought for me was "America" by America. My brother and sister in law bought that I believe.

First one "I" bought?...maybe "The Long Run" by the Eagles.

I don't even remember. I had a bunch of children's LP's in the early 70's. I remember I used to buy records from singers from the 50's and 60's. I had alot of Elvis records and I had a bunch of Johnny Cash records. My Mom had a bunch of them because he was her favorite singer. I remember I got a few records of his one Christmas in 1974.

I'm pretty sure mine was Duran Duran's debut self-titled album... In 1982 (the year I turned 11), my 6th grade class at (Catholic) school had our Catholic Confirmation sacrament... My Confirmation sponsor's family wanted to get me any album I wanted, as one of the presents they got me... They also wanted to get my sister any album she wanted... I asked for Dare by The Human League (I still have it... and still my favourite album ever)... My sister asked for Rio by Duran Duran (Duran Duran's second album, and my favourite Duran Duran album)... I then bought Duran Duran's debut self-titled album with money I also got as a present from my sponsor's family... I still have this album (and my sister's Rio album... mine now), as well as a gold necklace they gave me, with my name, and Confirmation date, inscribed on a Christian cross... I like to wear a Christian cross necklace at times, but I rarely wear this one...
