Say farewell to page jackets and EGOTs -- '30 Rock' is ending its run after next season.
Alec Baldwin, who plays Kabletown head honcho Jack Donaghy on the highly acclaimed NBC show, divulged that the Tina Fey brainchild will end its run in 2012. At the National Dance Institute's fund-raising Gala in New York City last night, the actor confessed, "I will tell you one thing, and that is our show next year is our last year of the show." While the unique brand of humor favored by Fey has been recognized by fans and critics alike (the show has won an impressive collection of Emmy, Golden Globe and Peabody awards), its rise to prime-time prominence hasn't been without obstacles. In the first year of production, there were 140 prime-time shows commanding a larger audience than '30 Rock.' More recently, the show has had to dramatically alter plotlines to make up for star Tracy Morgan's absence from the set after a life-saving kidney transplant. Despite putting her heart and soul into the show, Fey has a remarkably positive attitude about when '30 Rock' comes to an end. "I think my level of fame will drop back down. I think it'll recede. In fact, I know it will. That's life on planet earth. And I'm okay with that," she says. "Besides getting tables at restaurants and special treatment at the airport, what else is there?" http://www.popeater.com/2011/04/06/30-rock-ending/ |

Your costar announces that the show you created and star in is going off the air when it’s not? Dealbreaker!
That’s no doubt the thought that crossed Tina Fey’s mind on Wednesday morning when she heard that Alec Baldwin took it upon himself to publicly set an end date to 30 Rock. “I will tell you one thing,” Baldwin told NYMag.com. “And that is our show next year is our last year of the show. Our contracts are expired [in 2012], and Tina is gonna have a big career directing films and writing. She’s going to be the next Elaine May. She’ll be great.” There’s just one problem: It’s apparently hogwash. While it’s true that Fey and Baldwin’s contacts are up in May 2012, an NBC insider insists, “We have had no conversations about 30 Rock ending next season.” Perhaps this was just wishful thinking on Baldwin’s part. The multiple Emmy winner has made no secret of his desire to leave Rock when his current deal ends. It’s also possible that the man behind Jack Donaghy is using the media to negotiate a new mega-bucks contract with the Peacock. Reps for NBC and Fey declined to comment. http://www.tvline.com/2011/04/30-roc...2/#more-205511 |
