Sad Bad News

I lost my temp job after only a week because I had made too many mistakes. They let me go this morning. I feel like such a failure. I haven't even told my parents yet because I'm afraid to tell them I failed, once again. I feel totally worthless, useless, and stupid. I hate myself!!!

You should have no fear to tell your parents about losing your gig. It can happen to anybody. Also why would you fear telling your parents??

It really sucks you lost your gig, I know how that feels and I know the feeling like you failed at something (believe me I've been there).

As hard as this is, dont let this get you down. Keep trying hun, you found this one I am sure you can find something else.

How about a part time gig???

Also remember turn to the Almighty he can get you through anything.

You're not a failure, you're not stupid, you're not worthless and you're not useless. You're completely the opposite. What happened to you is terrible, and you're more vulnerable to Satan's lies than ever. Don't believe them; you're a bright girl.

If anyone is at fault here, it's this company. It seems to me that they have no learning curve, and that they don't value their personnel very much. You don't need them! I know you'll land on your feet, and will end up working somewhere way better.

I'll be praying for you. You may hate yourself right now, but Jesus certainly doesn't.

Take care, friend.

Hi catlover79,I always enjoy reading your posts about television and other things, because you have such a great knowledge, passion and love of quality classic tv shows. And from reading your posts I can also tell you are a very intelligent gal with alot of character and other great qualties.---Don't let some idiots at a job influence in any way how you feel about yourself. If anything say to yourself it's THEIR loss.Unfortunately, especially in America some people judge themselves too much by their job-and it should not be that way. -- Pete

I'm so sorry the people at that company didn't value and appreciate you for the treasure you truly are. As Pete said your intelligence, your passion, and so many other great qualities shine through in all your posts here at S.O. I'm sure there is an employer out there who will see and appreciate your great qualities and jump at the chance to hire you! Don't worry, you'll find something else. They didn't deserve you anyway.

I'm sorry to hear that. Since the news is still fresh in your mind, it might be hard to process right away. But just know that you're not a failure. This just wasn't the job for you. You will eventually find the job you were meant to have.

We all feel like a failure at times, but that doesn't mean we are. I spent two full months, and hours upon hours, studying for a section of the CPA exam. I failed. It took a few days to process, but eventually you just have to get back at it.

Sorry to hear that, Monika.

You know, if you want me to...I can give a word or two about you at my church since you have some experience on office/law.

Aw, Monika, I'm so sorry to hear this. *Hugs* If you ask me, it was the company's loss. I'm sure you'll end up finding a job that's 10x better than this one! You deserve it.

Thanks, everyone. I knew from the word go this would be a temp job and once this project was done, it would be back to the job search again. But I was hoping to last the duration - which would've been between 2-4 months.

They basically gave you about 5 minutes of training, put you on a computer and said, "OK, now start". I thought I was doing everything right, until yesterday when the boss came in and while she didn't yell at me, she dressed me down in front of the 4 other temps in the room about the mistakes I didn't know until then that I had made. (They didn't get a real look at my work until Friday.) I tried to go back and fix my mistakes but they said too much time and money was at stake for me to go back and do over - and after only an hour and a half this morning, they told me they were letting me go. I managed to drive home and then threw myself on my bed, crying.

Basically it was like a one strike and you're out thing. I did the best I could but I still feel like a failure. I know I can do data entry work if given the proper time and training, which I didn't get in this case. I just don't know how much more I can take - these past couple of years have just been complete torture. So many stops and starts. I just feel like I'll never see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Unbelieveable...One Strike Policies suck!

I feel the pain too, but in a different way...I'm trying to get a car, but with the money that I've got and the job I have, and SSI/SSDI dragging their feet...I'll have a car when Cleveland wins a Championship!

I hope you feel better Monika!

You're a good person with a good heart. That's what defines you not a job. Yeah, this one didn't work out and I am very sorry because I know you were glad to have it. At least you desire to have a job unlike so many other people out there. You even said it yourself that they didn't train you well enough (five minutes ain't enough).

You feel like a failure. I know you're not. Of course we are always our own worst critics. It's normal to feel bad about stuff like this. It just sucks that it had to happen but that'll make the next job that much better.

I'm so sorry Monika. It's their loss. You are one of the nicest people I know. You always have a possitive outlook on everything. You are definitely not a failure. Don't ever give up. Something better will be coming for you soon enough. I just know it.
