No...I dunno who she is, but I have seen "Sgt. Pepper" and it wasn't the best film ever, but Paul McCartney actually turned-down the role of Sgt. Pepper which Billy Preston played.

Lol

Peter Frampton actually played Billy Shears - Billy Preston played the magical Sgt. Pepper golden weathervane come to life. Yes, the movie is very, very campy (and I personally think Andy Gibb would've been a better choice as Billy Shears - but I can't see him taking on Steven Tyler and winning!! ) - but it is fun and cute in a cheesy way. I mean, where else can you see Barry Gibb punching out Alice Cooper?

This movie was so bad even the Bee Gees themselves begged to be released from the contract.

How can anybody stomach this???

You have to have a fondness for bad movies, or, movies that are so bad they're good. This definitely falls into that category. The movie was written by a screenwriter who'd never written a musical and directed by someone who never directed a musical. And there were plenty of drugs going around the set, which was no surprise.

The Bee Gees did indeed ask for a release almost immediately upon shooting.

Frampton and the Bee Gees did have dialogue, but when it became apparent that none of them could actually act, the movie's story was told through a voice-over narration by George Burns, who played Mr. Kite, the mayor of Heartland.

The producers lied to Frampton, who only accepted the role because he was led to believe Paul McCartney was going to play the Sgt. Pepper Weathervane Man.

Instead, they got a semi-Beatle, Billy Preston. Preston played organ on some tracks on The Beatles' Let It Be album and can be seen playing live with them on the rooftop of Apple Records in the film of the same name.

I like it. It fulfills my cheese quota. Is it bad? Yes. Is it entertaining? Heck yes.

I haven't seen it. But I wish The Beatles had filmed a TV special based on
the making of the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album--instead
of Magical Mystery Tour (definitely NOT one of Sir Paul McCartney's better ideas). I've seen the latter show a number of times and--except for a
few high spots (e.g., "I Am the Walrus")--it's a bit of a bore.

There was a retrospective on the making of Sgt. Pepper (the Beatles album) that aired on the Disney Channel back in the early '90s. Unfortunately, no footage from the actual sessions but they did have interviews with George Martin (album producer) and Paul, George and Ringo.

I don't believe it's ever been issued on VHS or DVD.
