Thursday, March 31, 2011 – Mel McDaniel, 68, who had a number one hit single with "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On, died Thursday. He had a series of hits in the 1970s including <>Louisiana Saturday Night, Stand Up, Anger and Tears, I Call It Love, Let It Roll (Let It Rock) and Stand On It.

McDaniel was born Sept. 6, 1942 in Checotah, Okla. He grew up in Okmulgee, Okla and grew inspired to play music after seeing Elvis Presley on television. He went to Nashville a few times before landing a job as a demo singer and songwriter. He signed to Capitol Records in 1976 with his first single being Have a Dream On Me.

He had a top 20 song in 1977 with Gentle to Your Senses and a top 10 in 1981 with Louisiana Saturday Night. McDaniel's last top 10 was Real Good Feel Good Song in 1988.

McDaniel became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1986.
