I was just wondering about Annie. What was the point in bringing her to the show? I thought the show was better without her. She was kind of annoying, I thought. Otherwise, I wish they would bring the whole series to dvd.

I read that Quinn Cummings (Annie) was brought in just in case Kristy McNichol (Buddy) decided to leave the show. Apparently, Kristy was having early issues with what would a few years later be diagnosed as bi-polar disorder and the producers were afraid they'd have to replace her. They were also afraid she'd leave due to money issues and wanting to be in films. But in the end, they didn't have to fear, and both young actresses stayed with the show until the end.

Thank you. I thought it might be because they thought she would leave as she got older but I hadn't ever seen anything about it.
