Sorry if my memory is hazy and fuzzy on details, but I remember this from watching a while back so I know I'm not making it up. I seem to remember a story where something happened to her family (maybe her kids?) and a woman (possibly a mother) went missing and everyone thought she may have been running.
She ended up being found dead in the woods like 500 miles away from where she lived, completely randomly. I'm almost 90% positive she was found dead in a forest in Virginia...10% positive in Maryland. I seem to remember the update was in the red font (not the old one, but a newer update) and I want to guess it was the mid 1990's this happened. I seem to remember the Update being quite chilling and unexpected to the story. I will add more if I can remember but I've looked everywhere and can't put any of it together. That's where you all come in! Thanks. |

Off the top of my head, sounds like the case of Judy Smith. She travelled with her husband to Philadelphia so he could attend a work conference. One day she disappeared. Five months later, two hikers found her in the forest in North Carolina. It is on the main UM website here:

Was she found before or after the case aired?
Because the one I'm thinking of was one that had an update after the original airing. |

This may or may not be the case you're thinking of, but there was an UM segment about a woman named Alicia Showalter Reynolds, who was abducted in 1996. Her remains were later found in a wooded area in Virginia. A man named Darrell Rice is a suspect in the case, but by all accounts there is too little evidence to link him to the murder.
There is a recent article about the case, since this year marks the 15th anniversary of Alicia's murder. http://www.wset.com/Global/story.asp?S=14174751 |

Hey guys, just found out that I was actually thinking of the case of Susan Harrison. My details of this case were mixed up from other cases, I think, but she was found in a Maryland forest and her car was found at the DC airport 50 miles away from her home. It's a pretty cut and dry case, but the way they abruptly cut to the Update was sudden, surprising, and chilling.
Any updates? It seems obvious to me Jim did it. |
