It's one of my favorite films. It also has one of the greatest soundtracks.

Paul Le Mat is one who also starred in that film but his career never took off.
He went on to a lot of bit parts and is mainly known for, at least to me is, for starring in the original Puppet Master. |

Mackenzie Phillips also got her start in this movie. In fact her role in American Graffiti was at least partially responsible for her being cast in One Day At A Time.

I first saw the movie when I was 7 or 8 years old. After all these years, I have to say that it really is one of the greatest movies ever made. Here are some of my American Graffiti related autographs.

Didn't this film also spark Richard Dreyfuss' career as well as George Lucas into superstardom?

For my money this is George Lucas's best film (including all of those Star Wars flicks).

If it wasn't for this movie, Happy Days might never have made it to the air.

yea, when Gary Marshall first pitched "HAPPY DAYS" to the networks, he was turned down. They felt that noone in "the disco era" would want to see a sitcom about a family in "the bobbysox era". But then the play "GREASE" opened on Broadway and was a big hit, then "AMERICAN GRAFFITI" opened in theaters and was a big hit and sudenly the 50s were "hot" (even though "AG" was set in 1962) causing the networks to take another look at "HAPPY DAYS".

As great as this film is, the ending is kinda depressing. Milner gets killed by a drunk driver, and Toad gets captured in Vietnam.

I agree that this is Lucas's best film. I never got into Star Wars. And Mackenzie Phillips was absolutely hilarious and adorable!
Also some more actors who appeared and who had minor careers were;-Susan Richardson(8 Is Enough) -Kay Lenz(made several tv movies and a few theatrical movies in the 70's) -Kathleen Quinlan( who did have some major motion pictures such as Apollo 13 and The Doors) -Bo Hopkins -And of course Suzanne Sommers who career skyrocketed with Three's Company. |
