I was surprised to see Grady married ol' "Deputy Dog" Dolly.

Wasn't the daughter, Angie, the same actress that played Fred's niece Elizabeth??

Let me guess - He was gonna pay the $300, as soon as Gilligan got off the island. Do I have that right?

Thanks for posting this! Hard to believe that Fred and Lamont would move away with Grady having absolutely no knowledge of it since he and Fred were such good friends. Also, it was kind of sad how they had throw in a reference to Fred's famous schtick in the opening lines of the show. It was like, "Hey, the star of the show is no longer here, but we are playing on his material...."

i know i wonder if bubba knew mabye he couldnt get a hold of grady cause he was out getting married home did look nice aunt esther seemed younger and surprised she was not cracking jokes about fred being gone with Lamont

joke bubba made about grady wife was funny

but you was right about them doing freds having the big one heart attack when he not there did not seemed right seemed disrespectfull no wonder it did not last a year.

mabye a show about fred and lamont moving to arizonia would of been better just a thought

Default One reason WHY "THE SANFORD ARMS" was produced..

...was because the two main stars of what had been "SANFORD & SON", Redd Foxx {he signed an exclusive deal with ABC for a variety show that soon disappeared, as did his contract} and Demond Wilson {he opted out from the new series because of a salary dispute}, were no longer available. NBC, which had VERY few successful shows going into the fall of 1977, was desparate to keep the "SANFORD" format going, deciding to build a show around the remaining cast members, and some new ones, and call it "THE SANFORD ARMS". Unfortunately, ABC was doing quite well on Fridays at 8pm(et) with their "DONNY & MARIE" variety show, and the new format was no match for the Osmond clan. So that's why the series was cancelled after only a month....

I thought the pilot show of Sanford Arms was downright boring. I didn't like Sanford either. The regular cast of Sanford and Son worked together like a well-oiled machine. There was a chemistry between them that couldn't be matched. Plain and simple.

Setting Sanford Arms in the old Sanford house just made the audience expect the quality and ambiance of Fred and Lamont. Perhaps if the show was set in an unfamiliar setting like the Sanford Arms house, the expectations wouldn't have been so high. I felt sad seeing the old house without Fred and Lamont, and the new characters and "schtick" just couldn't compare. Let's face it--Sanford and Son spoiled us!

The same guy that posted the Sanford Arms pilot has also posted the Grady pilot on his youtube page. I found it more boring than Sanford Arms. For it to be a pilot it did little to introduce the characters.

As fred would have said, the only thing left of Sanford & Son was and. lol

I'm sad to say that I actually watched that show when it originally aired. I wasn't disappointed when CPO Sharkey replaced it.

How can you call a show The Sanford Arms when there's not one character named Sanford in the show...?
