Dennis the Menace is now available for the first time on any home entertainment format thanks to Shout! Factory. All 32 original uncut episodes of the series’ first season is now available just for you! The series was based on the iconic, long-running comic strip (which debuted in '51) and still runs daily in over 1,000 newspapers in 48 countries. Airing on CBS from '59-'63, Dennis the Menace is a TV series based on the popular and iconic Hank Ketcham comic strip of the same name. The show follows the lives of the Mitchell family: Henry, Alice, and their only child, Dennis. Dennis is an energetic, well meaning, but trouble-prone boy but sometimes he is a mischievous child. He often tangles with peace-and-quiet-loving neighbor, George Wilson.
The sitcom stars Jay North as Dennis Mitchell, Herbert Anderson as his father Henry Mitchell, Gloria Henry as his mother Alice Mitchell, Joseph Kearns as George Wilson and Sylvia Field as Martha Wilson. Recurring are Dennis’s friends Tommy (Billy Booth), Joey (Gil Smith) and Margaret (Jeannie Russell). This sounds like a great set with lots of fun extras! And this show was way overdue for a DVD release! Thank-you Shout factory!

I guess I was lucky, to find mine at Walmart and for 19.99! (there was only 2 in stock) I also stopped at Target, which did not have it, and Best Buy, which had a large quantity but was 26.99.
I could have pre-ordered through Amazon, but there's something about running out to these stores on Tuesday or Wendesday, and having it in your hands instantly. Still, you never know if something like DtM will be stocked. I was also looking for Here's Lucy, which wasn't anywhere. |

Yeah, the Best Buy near me has cut their selection of dvds by about half. It's really gotten small from what it was a few years ago. I do miss being able to go out to these stores and finding stuff I want there. I remember looking for The Monster Squad a few years back and having to go to a couple different stores before I found it. And I finally did get my e-mail confirmation for Dennis the Menace about an hour ago and they adjusted the price.

My copy arrived yesterday and what a gem of a show. All the eps are new to me since they don't have it in syndication anymore. One episode has a young Ronny Howard, what a treat to see.

Yeah, isn't it amazing to see Ronnie Howard BEFORE he was Opie!! He would go on to star in TAGS, that next year. Ronnie plays Stuart, in 5 episodes of DTM in season 1.

Got mine yesterday in the mail from amazon. Watched the 3 first episodes. Picture look great, not as good as leave it to beaver, but pretty close. For some odd reason the first episode didnt look too good. Cant wait to watch the extra features.

Mine came today. I think I'm going to watch the extras first, because of those new interviews with Jeannie Russell and Gloria Henry. That's what I've been looking forward to the most. To hear what they have to say about working on the series.

Hello all,
I was watching the bonus material on Disc 5 of the Dennis the Menace set last night. I noticed on my copy that the time counter on my DVD player stays at zero during the the Gloria Henry and Jeannie Russell video interview. That wasn't the case on the other bonus features. There's no chapter spots on the video interview. Is this the same on anyone else's Disc 5 of the set, or do I have a defective disc? Please let me know. Thanks, Marshall |
