Default Why does TV Land still air the classics?

Clearly, TV Land doesn't care about the classics anymore. They continue to add new original programming and newer sitcoms and the classics continue to get the boot. My question is, why even air the classics at all? I mean, the network is already becoming unrecognizable, why not just make it totally unrecognizable? Plus, their ratings would surely skyrocket if they had nothing but modern sitcoms and originals 24/7. We now have The Hub, RTV, Me TV, Antenna TV, and other classic networks that actually care about classic TV. I personally don't think TV Land deserves to air the classics if they are going to continue to treat them the way they do (as fillers). What are your thoughts?

My thought is they haven't been worth a damn in well over a decade so I don't really give a damn as to what they air or don't air.

Looking at their moves today (removing Andy Griffith from weekdays), it seems like they're focusing on a handful of classics and trimming the ones that must not be desirable anymore. Looks like Sanford and Son, All in the Family, Good Times, The Jeffersons, Jeannie, Bonanza, and Gunsmoke are the only ones that do well enough to air anymore.

I'm indifferent about them airing classics...but I do think they'll be gone by 2013 or so.

I'll be honest. I think TV Land wants to get rid of Classic TV. I mean if TV Land put half as much promotion they do for "Hot In Cleveland" for classic shows, people would actually give a damn and watch instead of TV Land thinking that nobody watches classic tv. I mean if TV Land doesnt care about promoting classic tv, then why should the audience?

It's really sad where TvLand has gone. I don't even consciously turn to TvLand anymore, though if surfing through the channels and happen upon Bonanza, like I did today, I'll watch at least some of it. Bonanza is not one of my all-time favorites, but it is better than most of what is out there today.
The thing is, I don't even realize what channel it is on, until I hear one of the promos for the station.

Sadly, I don't have any of those channels. I think I have to change to satellite. Charter cable is just not doing it for me. And their commercials are getting really stupid, if anyone has seen them you'll know what I am talking about.
