Default Will the RS episodes of UM ever be shown on TV again?

I'm just curious if the original Robert Stack eps of UM will ever be shown on TV again. I have most of them on VHS that I've recorded over the years, but there's still many that I don't have.

I really, really want them to show these episodes again, but I am not hopeful that it will happen anytime soon.

I think web syndication is our only hope. I'd pay for Hulu if they got the original series.

Given that they've invested the time and money to "modernize" the show, I doubt that they'd bring the original back.

Strangely I feel the RS episodes were more modern than the new "techy cyber" approach haha.

The new shows have zero suspense not to mention zero charisma. The Stack hosted episodes would still give people nightmares if they re-aired them today. Why not just start at the beginning and re-air everything seasonally?

I agree, as do many others; however, as was stated above, the money was already spent to produce the new versions so they need to get some mileage out of that.

Although, I think the fact that Lifetime came back to UM after dumping it a couple of years ago and gave it an afternoon time slot says a lot about its popularity.

The problem I have with the Dennis Farina episodes are that they are just re-runs that are redone by Farina. Why not just have some new episodes? If your not going to do new episodes, then just keep re-airing the Robert Stack episodes.

What bothers me about the Farina episodes is not only are they reruns, the segments are rushed. Stack took his time narrating the stories. He never rushed at all.

Agreed. The original Ethel Kidd segment was almost 20 minutes long. Now the new Ethel Kidd segment with the update is like 5 minutes long.

It's rushed, all the great musical scores are gone. And Farina, who seems like a nice guy, can't narrate to save his life.

And it's been stated hundreds of times before, but it seems like the newer UM likes to edit a lot of the suspense and intrigue out of the segments.

I'm sad to say, I don't think we will ever see the Robert Stack episodes again. I'm so glad I decided to record many of the Robert Stack segments/episodes when I did.

If anyone gets Netflix, you know that every Saturday Night Live season is now available to stream. However, the episodes are edited down, mostly due to copyright issues with the musical performances. They should consider doing something like that for Unsolved Mysteries.
