For some reason, I am not surprised at this new development in the Sheen wars. Maybe CBS realizes that without Sheen, there's no show...
http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2 ... sheen-back EXCLUSIVE: CBS Wants Charlie Sheen Back CBS wants Charlie Sheen back on its Two and a Half Men, and they want him back now, RadarOnline.com is reporting exclusively. The top exec at the Eye network is ready, willing, and able to forgive and forget all of Sheen's recent antics and continue broadcasting the series, with Sheen back in the starring role, a well-placed insider tells us. According to our source, CBS President and CEO Les Moonves has been speaking directly with top execs at Warner Bros. Television -- the company that produces Men and also fired Sheen. Moonves has also spoken directly to 'Men' co-creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre, who has been the target of Sheen's "violent hatred." Moonves wants a solution that brings Sheen back to the show in a situation everyone can live with. "Moonves told Chuck Lorre that he should 'let us handle Charlie'," the source says. Lorre produces two other huge CBS hits, The Big Bang Theory and Mike & Molly. The prolific writer/producer also has several other projects in development for CBS. "Moonves wants to get the show back on the air. He's all for it," the insider adds. "He says certain people need to forget anything and everything Charlie's done recently and just move on with the business at hand. "The core issue is, as he put it, the volatile relationship between Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre. He believes that if CBS and Warner Bros. TV honchos can find a way to get Chuck and Charlie to speak again, cooler heads will prevail." Discussions about the possibility of bringing Charlie back to Two and a Half Men have been going on in earnest the last couple of days. As RadarOnline.com has been reporting, the actor was fired earlier this month, with CBS and Warner Bros. TV issuing a statement that "Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen's services" for their hit sitcom. Since then, in several exclusive interviews with RadarOnline.com, Sheen's spoken about his "winning" attitude, life with his "goddesses" and regularly referred to everyone connected with 'Men' as "trolls." He also filed a $100 million lawsuit against Lorre and Warner Bros. TV. Sheen is now taking his rant on the road, and has 20 concert dates planned, including one at New York's Radio City Music Hall. It's unclear how far along CBS' Moonves is in convincing the powers at Warner Bros. TV to rehire Charlie or if he'd accept their offer if one is made. |

I am totally not surprised either considering that his firing made him more of a hot commodity than before.

Seriously, Sheen or no Sheen, where can this show go from here? It's been on for eight years (!) and the "half a man" is now 18 years old. It doesn't even have a large ensemble to help take the pressure or emphasis off the main characters once their wells start running dry.
Whether you are a fan or not (and I'm not) it HAS to be just running on fumes now. Sure if Sheen came back there'd be a big temporary bump out of curiosity, but after everyone saw that he was back and didn't throw up or shoot anybody after about four weeks, I think they'd just kind of drift away again. Best thing to do would be to start plotting the finale now, where Charlie would return for one last big reunion after a short absence, after which they wrap the whole mess up. |

What Mr.Moonves does NOT realize is that Warner Bros.TV producers have the FINAL SAY in this matter.

As I said,Warner Bros.TV has the FINAL SAY as to whether Charlie Sheen returns to "Two and a Half Men"-But what would happen if they DO NOT rehire Sheen and decide to recast? What then?

I think CBS should cut their losses. Sheen's hot right now...that's why they want him back. If that was the case, they never should have fired him. and I can't believe Warner Bros. fired him without talking it over with Moonves. |

Two and a Half Men is one of those shows that just will never jump the shark, as long as they don't majorly retool the show in any way. If they keep doing the same episodes and storylines they've always done, the core 13-14 million viewers are going to watch no matter how long it runs. That's evidenced by it's slightly shrinking demo. It's viewers, the same viewers it's had since day one, are aging, and the demo is shrinking. And yet the demo is still among the highest for comedies, only 2nd to Modern Family I believe.
Point is, this show could go on for a few more seasons, as long as Charlie Sheen stays around. CBS knows this. And quite honestly, they need this show on their lineup for as long as possible. They're not stupid, nor are they greedy. They just know how to do business. If I were Les Moonves, I would be pulling out all the stops to get Sheen back. Aside from American Idol, 2.5 Men is the biggest money maker on television. They need to keep it going. |

If I was into conspiracy theories, I'd think that Sheen and CBS started all of this to increase their ratings.

CBS better be careful how far they push this thing with Chuck Lorre. Big Bang Theory and Mike and Molly may end up moving to NBC or ABC and CBS could find themselves scrambling to fill those timeslots.
