Default "That Kite"

Ok, on another thread, comparisons were being made between the first season's opening credits and the credits from the second to the end seasons. I love the first season's opening (very classy!) but I admit, as a kid, that scene of the railroad tracks, with those violins striking up the theme had me RIVETED to the screen every single week!

This has to be one of the all-time most original openings. The topper, though, was That Kite! You get a peek of it in the reflection of a shop window when Ann spots a mannequin that looks like her (!) (And wasn't that bit just a tad surreal? A mannequin that looks like you and WINKS!)

Then later, Ann is jubilantly flying That Kite! Man, I wanted so bad to have a kite with my likeness on it! I thought it was the COOLEST thing on TV! Even cooler, it had what appeared to be a bow-tie at the base, and a tail that looked like a string with circular pieces of paper on it. And on the end credits, That Kite takes on a life of it's own and soars towards the sun whiile Ann waves farewell to it!!!!!

Whoever came up with this whole opening and closing should get her, his or their own special award!

Talking Hello!

...hey don't stop singing that song! In fact, I even put it on a tape with some other tv theme songs- so I go around singing that song in the house, in the car, at work...! glad to know there are others who sing theme songs too!

I preferred the lyrics version to the instrumental only

According to the book, "That Book About That Girl" from a few years back, the kite was on display at the New York City PLANET HOLLYWOOD. Not sure if it's still there... would love to see it though!
