1)At the VERY beginning when plotlines dealt with the Winslow family and nobody else? 2)When it included Steve Urkel as a minor character at first? or 3)When it became "The Urkel Show",when almost every episode was about Steve Urkel /Stefan Urkel/Myrtle Urkel? I liked 1 best. How about the resy of you?Feel free to post.

I thought seasons 1-3 of FM were the best. Season 1 (1989-90) was what Rezny described as #1, Seasons 2 & 3 (1990-92) were what Rezny described as #2, but starting in Season 4, Steve Urkel started getting the majority of ridiculous gadget/invention/whatever storylines, and the quality of writing went seriously downhill then (save for very few episodes). Also, the Carl & Steve getting trapped in the middle of nowhere storylines got old fast as well.

I thought the show went downhill after they got rid of all the Rodney/Murtaugh/Weasal/Waldo-type characters. They carried the show for me.
I tended to avoid the post-Waldo re-runs on Nick-at-Nite. |

I liked the 1990-1996 Seasons.
Urkel was popular, but he didn't get TOO far. But the Last Episode was okay...though the 1996-1997 Season really made the show unwatchable, that and when they killed the theme song!... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBqcEo5CNTQ (I HAD to make it a link to YouTube because I CAN'T show it on here)!

I liked the show best when it was about the Winslow Family just like on the Cosbys when it was about the family. Once that ended, it stopped being interesting for me.

It became too much like a science fiction show with Steve Urkel's all machines. But each sseason had some erally good episodes anyway. But the best seasons was in my opinion 2-4. The last episode wasn't that bad.

I liked it better in the beginning when it was about the Winslows. Once it got to be all about Steve Urkle and all his crazy inventions and then him turning into Stephan, I didn't really like it as much. It did seem more of a science fiction show about some kid and his inventions. I liked it better as more of a family show centered around the Winslows.

I liked it more in the first season when it was about the winslows and before it became the urkel show. Wish they could have done a spinoff about urkel then kept it all about the winslow family like they did in the beginning.

I liked the show the best when it included the entire Winslow family(including Judy), with a little Steve Urkel. While I really like Jaleel White, the show really became annoying when his character became the focal point. I've always had a feeling that was bothersome with most of the cast....especially JoMarie Payton(considering it was her spin-off from Perfect Strangers).

So once again, it's up to me to provide an alternative view on this show.
I don't get why so many of you dislike the later episodes. You complain about it becoming "The Urkel show", but the Winslows were still around, and most episodes (if not all of them) had a sub-plot, where none of Jaleel White's characters was involved. Reginald VelJohnson, Darius McCrary and Kellie Shanygne Williams all stayed on for all nine seasons, and the best plots of that last season had nothing to do with Steve, Stephan or Myrthle. And I personally wouldn't have cared, if every single episode for all nine seasons had been all about Steve making an invention, as long as he had stayed with Myra instead of dumping her for that shallow bitch Laura. Because that was what killed the show for me. |

I liked the earlier shows best during the last season you could tell Jaleel had outgrown the character. BTW the show lasted 10 seasons.

No, it was nine seasons. They thought about doing a tenth season, but it never happened.

I'll say 2, and to a lesser extent 3 since I couldn't stand Myrtle.
