I was watching a AITF ep tonight and Mike was happy about getting a promotion and stated he and Gloria was moving to Minnesota. And the scene below

Edith-"Isn't that the place that Mary Tyler Moore keeps losing her hat?

Mike-"Yeah Mom but it's a great place"

Edith-"Well Rhoda and Phyllis didn't stay there"

Because before I invest money in a show I need to know if I will like it first. This has worked with the shows below

I totally understand why you wouldn't want to spend $$$ on a show before you know if you're going to like it. What about seeing if you can borrow if from you local library. Here in NYC, you can even put in a reserve for a DVD and have it delivered to your local branch. This is another way you could "preview" it for free.

It really is a fine show. You should check it out free somehow. (How could so many of us be wrong? - it really is an AWESOME show)

That's why I think this may work for you as a "blind purchase" I mean didn't you buy the dvd to "That's My Mama" blindly? Even so, my offer still stands if you want to sample a couple of seasons.

Or you could just watch episodes on Hulu, or buy some on iTunes. At least that's cheaper than buying a whole season blindly.

That might not be a good place to start for someone who's not familiar with the show. If I had only seen episodes from the first two seasons of TMTMS, I wouldn't like it. I don't think it really developed into the classic we remember until the third season. In fact, I bought all the seasons except the first, because I really don't like the first season at all. But I absolutely love seasons 3-7. IMO, this show got better and better each season and the last couple seasons were phenomenal. That being said, I see The Office on his list. That's also one of my favorite series and I'm buying all the seasons. I think anyone who likes The Office would love TMTMS.
