Default Nick at Nite Requests

Dear Nick at Nite Viewer Services,

It's come to my attention that Nick at Nite acquires its programs from the companies that produced them originally.

With this in mind, I have a SLEW of programs I believe would be great additions to Nick at Nite.

First up: in lieu of its 20th anniversary, Nick at Nite shall bring the hit 1991-1999 sitcom "Home Improvement" back to its regular lineup starting Saturday, September 17, 2011 (20 years to the day of its debut) with a 2-night salute titled "20 Years at Home," showcasing 40 episodes (20 per night) from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. ET each night of some of the most memorable episodes in "Home Improvement" history complete, uncut, & unedited, just the way that they originally aired on the ABC Television Network. Afterwards, Nick at Nite shall air "Home Improvement" regularly once again by airing weeknights with back-to-back episodes at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with "My Wife & Kids" moving from Nick at Nite to TeenNick effective September 19, 2011. "Home Improvement" was produced by Wind Dancer Productions, Inc. in association with Walt Disney Television, and distributed by Disney's Buena Vista Television.

Next up: "Doogie Howser, M.D.," the hit 1989-1993 half-hour hospital drama created by Steven Bochco. The series starred Neil Patrick Harris (currently on CBS's "How I Met Your Mother") as Dr. Douglas Howser, a teenage doctor struggling to make it as both a boy genius AND a regular kid. Nick at Nite UK previously aired reruns of the series from 1995-2000, as evidenced through this YouTube clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2grrdXEfdEE). Nick at Nite shall share the cable rights with The Hub by launching the series on Monday, November 21, 2011 with a week-long "Doogie-Thon," after which "Doogie Howser, M.D." shall be added to its regular schedule by airing weeknights with back-to-back episodes at 9 p.m. ET/PT, replacing "Everybody Hates Chris" (which shall move to Viacom-owned The BET Television Network). "Doogie Howser, M.D." was produced by Steven Bochco Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television.

Next up: "Boy Meets World," the hit 1993-2000 sitcom that starred Ben Savage (younger brother of "The Wonder Years'" Fred) as Cory Matthews, a typical 6th-grade boy living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania struggling to identify with the world around him. Nick at Nite shall split the cable rights with The Disney Channel and ABC Family (with The Disney Channel airing the series between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. ET/PT and ABC Family airing the show between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. ET/PT and Nick at Nite airing the series after 6 p.m.) starting on Saturday, January 1, 2012, when Nick at Nite shall launch "Boy Meets World" with a 2-night marathon titled "Nick at Nite Meets Boy Meets World," a showcase of the most memorable episodes of the show's run. "Boy Meets World" was produced by Michael Jacobs Productions in association with Walt Disney Television and distributed for syndication by Buena Vista Television.

Next up: Nick at Nite shall supplement TV Land by having exclusivity in airing reruns of the iconic hit 1960-1968 sitcom "The Andy Griffith Show," which was created as a "Danny Thomas Show" spin-off by Sheldon Leonard, who cast rising movie actor Andy Griffith as Sheriff Andy Taylor, the Sheriff of the fictional small town of Mayberry, North Carolina (modeled after Griffith's real-life hometown of Mount Airy, North Carolina). At home, where he resided in Mayberry at 14 Maple Street, Andy was a widower who had his Aunt Bee (Frances Bavier) help him take care of his 5-year-old son, Andy Taylor, Jr. (Ronny Howard), known by everyone under the nickname "Opie Taylor." Nick at Nite shall launch this classic on Thursday, March 1, 2012 (Ronny Howard's real-life 58th birthday) with an evening-long marathon from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. ET/PT titled "Happy Birthday, Opie," showcasing 22 memorable "Andy Griffith Show" episodes focusing on Ronny Howard as Opie, after which Nick at Nite shall add "The Andy Griffith Show" to its regular schedule by airing Friday & Saturdays from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET/PT and weeknights at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. "The Andy Griffith Show" is A Mayberry Enterprises Production, with distribution rights by Paramount TV.

Next up: a series I'm surprised has NEVER been acquired by Nick at Nite, the hit 1952-1966 sitcom "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet," which shall launch on Monday, October 1, 2012 with a week-long salute titled "60 Years of Ozzie & Harriet." The show served as the real-life Nelson family on the air and was produced by The Rick Nelson Company, with distribution rights belonging to Buena Vista Television since 1995.

Next up: in honor of its distinction as TV's longest-running prime-time network TV game show, the hit 1989-1999 TV game show "America's Funniest Home Videos," which had people send in their funniest and/or amazing home videos in the hopes of becoming $10,000 richer. It was originally hosted by Bob Saget (ABC's "Full House"), who left after 8 seasons to be replaced by MTV VJ Daisy Fuentes (paired with John Fugelsang) for the 1998-1999 season until its unceremonious 1999 cancellation, only to see it revived successfully in July 2001, with TV personality Tom Bergeron taking over hosting duties--a job he continues to this day. "America's Funniest Home Videos" shall relaunch on Nick at Nite on October 31, 2012 by airing the entire 10-year run of the original series, which is a production of ABC Entertainment in association with Vin Di Bona Productions and distributed by Disney's Buena Vista Television.

Next up: "Animal Crack-Ups," a short-lived Saturday-morning game show hosted by Alan Thicke that had a panel of guest celebrities make educated guesses to questions about comical oddities of the animal world, among them "Can a Kangaroo walk?," "What does an orangutan eat for lunch?," and "Do All Bats Live in Caves?," the answers to which were provided via film clips by the Tokyo Broadcasting System. The series shall launch in November 2012 on Nick at Nite. "Animal Crack-Ups" is a production of ABC Entertainment in association with Vin Di Bona Productions and distributed by Disney's Buena Vista Television.

And finally: in light of its impending 65th anniversary in 2012, "Howdy Doody," the hit 1947-1960 children's series which shall launch on Monday, December 27, 2012 with a week-long salute to the show titled "Nick at Nite Says Howdy Doody," a 65-episode salute of some of the most memorable episodes of "Howdy Doody," which is produced and distributed by NBC Universal TV.

Sincerely,
Grundoon Katt
