Former Alice in Chains Bassist Mike Starr 1966-2011

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Mike Starr, the former bassist for Alice in Chains has died, according to police. Police have confirmed that they checked a residence at 1:42 p.m. at 1986 South Richards Street in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, where they discovered Starr's body. Starr was arrested for illegal prescription drug possession in Salt Lake City in February. Stay tuned to ABC 4 News and ABC4.com for more on this story. |

I just heard about this
 sadly another one is snuffed out way too soon from my beloved AICHe looked like he had alot of problems going on his life from what I saw of him on that Celebrity Rehab show |

I read that he was a part of 'Celebrity Rehab' and apparently had some run-ins with the law in Salt Lake City over drugs.
He was let go from Alice In Chains years ago and was replaced with Mike Inez, formerly of Ozzy's band. I heard on the radio way back when that Starr was fired from the band over business misdealings with his father which affected the band, but I'm sure that drugs may have been the real reason. So why doesn't it really surprise me about his dying from drugs?  He's now joined Layne in that Great Gig in the Sky.
