Exclamation CBS Has Officially Fired Charlie Sheen from "Two and a Half Men"

Charlie Sheen Fired from "Two and a Half Men"
by Jean Bentley
posted Mar 7th 2011

Charlie Sheen is officially unemployed.

According to a Variety report, Warner Bros. has terminated Sheen's employment on "Two and a Half Men". The studio sent the outspoken star a letter today informing him of the decision.

Sheen had one season left on his contract for the show, and has threatened to sue CBS and Warner Bros. for violating the agreement.

A studio representative told Variety that no decision has been made about whether "Men" will continue next season without Sheen.

The last official word from CBS came last week when network honcho Les Moonves said at a San Francisco conference, "Going down the road ... I don't know what's going to happen. I hope it's back. We'll see."

Though John Stamos initially denied reports that he would replace Sheen on the show next season, it was later revealed that he spoke with Moonves a few weeks ago about the possibility.

No surprise here... From his outlandish behavior, it's as if he wanted to be fired from the show...

Default Article Update

UPDATE: Sheen released the following statement to TMZ:

"This is very good news. They continue to be in breach, like so many whales. It is a big day of gladness at the Sober Valley Lodge because now I can take all of the bazillions, never have to look at whatshisc--k [Chuck Lorre] again and I never have to put on those silly shirts for as long as this warlock exists in the terrestrial dimension."

I'm glad CBS and Warner Brothers had the courage to do the right thing and fire Charlie. His response shows he is still delusional and in need of serious help. Hopefully he'll use all the free time that he has on his hands now to get the help he needs. If not for his own sake than for the sake of his children.

I feel sorry for the die hard fans of 2 1/2 Men who invested all this time in watching it, only for it to unravel like this.

If I was a true fan, I'd be mad. But I wouldn't be mad at CBS or Warner Bros. They never wanted this. It's all Charlie Sheen's fault.

CBS let Charlie slide all this time, but there comes a point where enough is enough. I think we're eventually going to hear the Charlie did something terrible in some form.

Would he be a new character, or would they have him playing "Charlie"? Either way, not sure it's a good idea to continue at all. Angus is getting too old--it used to be funnier when everything vulgar had to be explained to him--and the show has probably run its course.

I am a fan of the show, and I am not mad at this - Charlie pretty much backed them into a corner; its not like they were going to turn on Chuck Lorre and fire him over Charlie's antics. This was pretty much inevitable, but I do hold out some hope that the show will come back, I am willing to give it a chance with a new character or new actor in Charlie's place. Even if it only lasts a partial season, it would be nice to close off some of the loose ends.

This sets a good example, that if you act like a lunatic then you have to pay the price. On the other hand, since it appears that if he truly has some mental issues or disorders then that would explain his terrible over the top bad behavior. He needs to take a step back and get some help. It seems to me that he was just looking for trouble and looking to get fired.
