"General Hospital" Star Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo Ready to Exit

It seems like only yesterday that Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo returned to "General Hospital" as Brenda Barrett, but if her words are to be taken as fact, her visit is drawing to a close.

In an interview with "Access Hollywood", Vanessa explained that she will be leaving "GH" shortly ... but is open to come back for return engagements in the future.

She didn't actually say she was leaving, but in answering questions about her current hot storyline on "GH" -- involving Brenda and Sonny's wedding, followed by her character's abduction -- Giovinazzo spoke about the soap in the past tense.

"After the wedding there is a lot of drama because my time is almost done, so we have to figure out how to pull back. It was like going to an incredible high school reunion.

We had so much fun and I have so much respect for these people. They work so hard."

We'll report the "official" word once ABC Daytime issues a statement.

It's truly a shame she is leaving already, but it always felt like it was short coming anyhow.
