Questions for the "Rob did it" crowd

A few questions for the crowd of people who are adamant in feeling that Rob Schaeffer is responsible in some manner for Angela Hammond's disappearance. First a few facts, along with Rob's version of the story.

Angela and Rob were engaged in January 1991; It is unknown how long they were together for prior to the engagement, nor is it known if they had planned to get married or when the wedding was set to be if one was planned. Angie was around three months pregnant at the time of her disappearance on April 4th 1991. Angie, age 20, worked at a local bank, and was attending college; Rob was planning for a career in the military. That is the little we know for certain about their relationship, and even about Angela herself.

Angie was confirmed to be last alive at around 11:00pm by her best friend Kyla, whom she was "trucking around" from approximately the late afternoon to that evening. Earlier that day, she and Rob had been at a barbecue. She dropped Kyla off at her home around 11pm. From here, this is Rob's version of the story:

Her plan was originally to pick up Rob (who was babysitting his little brother) and then the two of them were to go out in the town. However, she was tired from trucking around with Kyla and decided instead to go home, take a bath and then presumably go to sleep. She called Rob around 11:15pm from a payphone in the parking lot of the Food Barne Store, which was around 7 blocks from Rob's house.

She called him from the payphone because (according to her brother, who posted here) she had no home phone. It is unknown around what time, in Rob's version of events, that Angie first reported seeing the truck, but she was abducted around 11:45pm.

According to Rob, he got into his own truck and drove toward the phone and saw the truck coming the other way and heard Angie scream out for him. He then gave chase until his own truck gave out, and walked to the police station (which was not far from the payphone). He arrived at the police station at around 12 am. Her car was found parked in the parking lot near the payphone booth.

At time, Rob and an ex-boyfriend of Angie's became prime suspects, but were cleared. There were no reports of the truck being seen (that the public has been made aware of) and a search into 1600 trucks resembling the pick up that Rob described came up empty. Interestingly, there were reported sightings of Angela in the year after her disappearance as far north as Canada.

Now, some questions:

1) What was Rob's motive, if you believe he killed her?

2) How did he do it?

3) How did he at 19 or 20 manage to make her disappear in the space of an hour in such a manner that her body was not found during an intense search in the days/weeks after, and hasn't been found in the twenty years that have passed?

4) Did he have any help, in your opinions? If so, from whom, and why did they help her?

5) Why do you personally believe that Rob Schaeffer did it?

6) What do you make of the sitings in other states and even Canada after April 1991? Anything to them, or just faulty eyewitnesses as in other cases?

7) If you believe he did it, where did he do it? Did he kill her at the payphone? If he was lying, why make up the story about the payphone and bearded creepy guy? Why not just say he never heard from her?

If I may, I ask you to please understand that it's certainly not my intent to insult your intelligence, or personally "chastise" you for simply asking questions, Curious. I respect your curiousity. I think your questions are very pointed, intelligent, tempered, and well-presented. But this may be an exercise in futility, or at the very least an extension of the squabbles that go on in the main Angela Hammond thread. Those who assert Rob "did it" hold just as strongly to their convictions as those who don't. This is one of those segments that seems to divide people into very definite, very charged camps.

I'll bite. Even though I don't believe Rob was involved in ANY way shape or form in Angela's disappearance, I may be able to offer reasons why people believe he's guilty.

1) His motive could have been that because of his young age, he wasn't ready for parenthood, let alone marriage. Maybe he didn't want a wife and kid "holding him back" from going to college, etc. so he decided to kill Angela.

2) I suppose it's possible that Rob himself could have easily picked up Angela at the store shortly after she called him, and then killed her in a fit of rage and decided to dispose of her body. Then he would have had to have the wherewithal to compose himself and concoct a story involving abduction and a high speed chase. Oh yeah, and he also would need to purposely damage his transmission to help corraborate the fake story he was about to tell.

3) This question could apply to whomever was responsible for Angela's disappearance.

4) No, I personally believe the person who abducted Angela acted alone. She described ONE man in a pickup truck. Rob only heard ONE voice other than Angela's on the phone.

5) I think Rob's innocent. I think Angela's stepmother hit the nail on the head as to why people think Rob was responsible. It's easier to say "the boyfriend did it" than accept the fact that an unknown killer is out there lurking in the dark.

6) Personally I think these are faulty eyewitness accounts and that Angela was killed shortly after she was abducted.

7) You can see how unlikely it is Rob would have been able to pull it off in my sarcastic response to question 2 above.

My intention was for the people who feel Rob did it to post why and how they think he did it here, because when they post it in the main thread about Ms. Hammond, it ends up grinding the general conversation about her case to a halt. So I figured they could have their own thread.
I personally am not in the "Rob did it" camp. I just want those who are you to stop impeding discussion in the main Angela Hammond thread.

I think most of us would agree that for, one reason or another, her case is one of the most cared cases about ones amongst the UM fans here, and I think if we have enough good, questioning minds focusing on the case and specifically the place, and the time in which it happened, we could come up eventually with some real answers, or maybe some clues about who abducted her. There were, for whatever reason, a lot of creeps working in Missouri in 1991.

I am of the belief that her abductor/killer may be in jail already for another offense, but on the other hand, I worry that he might just be free and I want to be able to put a face and a name to her abductor/killer, so that Angela may rest easy, and her family may have closure, and so that this man meets justice.
