I heard the Canadian Guardian UFO case officially proven a hoax.

Anyone have any information?

If you've got some time on your hands, here's a very lengthy first-hand account from someone who actually investigated this UFO sighting and seems pretty certain that the whole thing was an elaborate hoax:

I always had the feeling that one was a hoax. I think most of these UFO sightings can be explained by hoaxes. There are a few that make me think (Belgian UFO, Allagash Four, Missing Time etc.) but most I think are either hoaxes or secret government operations.

An example....most of you probably remember the Hudson Valley UFO segment thats on the UFO DVD box set. I have firsthand knowledge that was a hoax. It was stunt pilots flying in formation at night. I know this because my father took part in this--one of his friends was one of the pilots and he invited my dad up to fly w/him in one of the planes one of the nights.

Wow, that's interesting! Was this just a routine flying exercise that many people mistook for a UFO or was it was always deliberately intended as a hoax?

Hoax all the way. Apparently a few of these pilots had done this flying the same way in another state several years before and got similar attention in the media. They moved out where I live...and apparently tried the same thing again.

I dont necessarily think what they did was right...it was definetly illegal for sure. But I have to say if my friend told me and invited me up to fly one night I totally would have went!

what about about those helicopters that were flying over the site where the Guardian UFO was? Didn't those have many witnesses? I wonder what those were abotu

I have to wonder if Diane lied about that,seems she wasn't honest anyway.
In any event,it seems the military would have no need of being involved in such a hoax.

Diane was interviewed by Sightings about the Guardian case. During the interview she was seated in front of a wall that had a prominent picture of a religious figure on it. Even as a kid, I thought that was contrived as Hell. Almost like the picture of the saint in the background gave her some credibility.

this segment is available on Amazon streaming even though it is widely believed to be a hoax. Still, I don't mind that since I like to have all the segments and think they should be included

I think I've mentioned this before on other threads, but I've talked with Bob Oechsler (the investigator interviewed on the segment) about the case. I also have a copy of the unedited Guardian tape. The whole thing is a hoax, IMO. I believe that Guardian was simply some kid trying to make it seem like he was an informant with inside information about UFOs and government conspiracies.

I'm with you JannTosh, one of the episodes that I am the most upset at being missing from Amazon is the Gulf Breeze UFO segment and its updates. I really think UM miscalculated by not including cases where they were proven wrong and/or were shown to be hoaxes. Maybe I am in the minority here, but to me, the entertainment value is unchanged. I'm left thinking that C&M are simply embarrassed & using this as a way of covering up the times they were wrong.

Well all the extra fluff about Red China and a photo of an alien being really screwed with the credibility of the Guardian character. I'm guessing it was also a hoax, but at the same time the one thing that gives me a least a little reservation are the black unmarked helicopters.

In addition to the case still being on Amazon despite being a hoax, one major unanswered question are the black helicopters that were apparently seen by multiple witnesses
