PBS's tribute to the geniuses working during the formative days of television returns with profiles of the shows and performers who revolutionized four important genres: crime, science fiction, Westerns and children's shows.
Highlights include: Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner discussing the influence of "Star Trek" Linda Evans and James Garner exploring their Western roots Angie Dickinson reflecting on her influential crime drama "Police Woman"

....was the one concerning "Local Children's TV Show Hosts". However, lack of funding and music clearance rights forced the producers to "improvise" yet again, as they did during season one (you'll note that barely any of Soupy Sales' material was seen in the episode I mentioned, because they didn't- or couldn't- clear the rights with Soupy's estate to show excerpts from his programs).
In my opinion, this series is NOT the "definitive" version of a documentary concerning TV history {too many errors are also evident}. Unfortunately, some people will view it as an "essential" for historical research, simply because it's more widely available.

Classic TV is an important part of our entertainment history, unfortunately a number of DVD releases have been ruined because rights to certain material were not cleared. In many cases, the problem is with the music.
In my opinion, if a classic show can't be released properly on DVD in it's complete and original form, then it shouldn't be released at all. I really hate all the music edits on the DVD's for Gomer Pyle USMC.
