Movie Academy Awards

Very late in making this thread, but I'm enjoying tonight's show. I think that Anne Hathaway and James Franco are doing a fine job hosting. I thought it was sad seeing Sandra Bullock. Just remembering last year. Nice to see Natalie Portman win. She looks beautiful.

I've never rooted for two people so strongly during award season before...and then for them to both win EVERYTHING! A great close to the season.

This rendition of, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", is simply beautiful. That song always makes me want to cry anyway, but wow, that was something else!

Congratulations Mike! I loved The Fighter, I'm thrilled that Christian Bale and Melissa Leo won. They deserved to win. I didn't see Black Swan, but I'm sure it was great. Natalie Portman is so beautiful and talented. Nice to see her preggers and happy. I just read her bio on imdb, and learned a lot about her.

They say that pregnant women have a certain glow and Natalie Portman was glowing in a very beautiful way tonight. I agree with you about that rendition on "Over the Rainbow"! It's one of the most beautiful movie songs ever and that rendition was gorgeous and awe inspiring!

My grandson was really glad that The King's Speech would win the Best Picture Academy Award because he and several other members of my family were opposed to the idea of an animated film winning Best Picture. The Best Picture Academy Award should be limited to live-action films only and animated films should be barred from Best Picture wins and nominations. Only two other animated films were nominated for BP. Why does an animated film have to win oor be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture?

I thought James and Anne did a great job hosting. I'm happy for Natalie Portman, Christian Bale and Melissa Leo.

Okay, here's where I get catty, lol. I don't think Annette Bening is aging that great. Anne Hathaway looks great, but if she had any more false eyelashes, she wouldn't be albe to open her eyes, lol. I just loved her gown though. That color, love it. I think that's called cobalt blue. What a great figure.

Thanks! The Fighter really was excellent. I was so glad that Annette Bening didn't upset in Lead Actress category. So many people on various movie forums kept going on and on about how she has been overdue and that they need to give it to her because she's "Hollywood royalty." Two of my all-time favorite actresses, Hilary Swank and Natalie Portman, have prevented Annette from winning the Oscar three times now!

Agreed! I think Helen Mirren, who is 13 years older, looks a lot better than Annette.

They never fail to exclude at least one person from that tribute. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't the only one left out.

You're right. They also left out Peter Graves and Betty Garrett.
