Default Childhood Crushes...Who Were They And How Do You View Them Today?

I imagine someone has made a similar thread somewhere in here, and if so, I apologize for being redundant. Right now I'm just too lazy to look it up, lol.

Anyway, I'll start off. I had huge crushes on Kristy McNichol, Jodie Foster, Kim Richards and Kathy Coleman. There were probably others (and I'm not counting 'grown up' crushes like Farrah or Lynda Carter...I tried to restrict it to actresses who were about my age), but these were the big ones.

Today, I'm proud of all of the crushes. Kristy was smart, kind hearted and rebellious, and even though it turned out she was gay, that doesn't diminish my affection for her and those days gone by. Jodie is more than likely gay too, but she was a huge success as an actress and (somewhat less so) as a director. She also exuded intelligence and independence, as well as being cute as a button. Kim Richards was sassy and cute and had that gorgeous hair. Seems as if she's had a rough go of it lately, and really hasn't done much for a while, but she still looks good and hopefully she'll get her stuff together soon. Kathy was so genuine and real in her role as Holly; that smile just melted you and I thought she was so believable in her relationships with the family on the show. I don't know that much about her post LOTL days, but from what I've read she had a pretty tough time for a while. She looks older than her years (a tough life will do that to you), but she's still got that trademark smile and I'll bet she's got the same glow inside that she always did.

Ahh...memories...

I loved Kim Richards in the 70s--In the top photo I thought it was Paris
Kathy Coleman still has that great smile
Kristy looks like Annette Benning
Jodie still looks like Jodie

Popular Teen girls sure were scarce in the 70s

My first crush on a celeb was Fred Savage on The Wonder Years, believe it or not. I have to admit he's not my type anymore (looks wise, that is). But he's kept his head on straight, got a good education, is married with a couple of kids, and still seems to be doing solid work in show biz, though most of it seems to be behind the camera these days. I will say this - he makes a CREEPY villain. Anyone who saw his turn as the abusive boyfriend who takes out all his rage on girlfriend Candace Cameron in 1996's No One Would Tell or as a rapist who handles his own defense in an episode of SVU will know what I mean!!

I had massive crushes on both John Schneider and John Stamos when I was younger. I think my longer crush was John Stamos but he's not as gorgeous as he used to be. Now John Schneider still looks pretty darn good!

Yup - he gave me the willies. That's probably one reason why he's avoided typecasting!!

Apparently I had a crush on Freddie Prinze from Chico and the Man, as that was what spurred me to join SO ten years ago--when TVLand was rerunning that show. But I honestly don't remember reacting as strongly to him when I was a teenager as I did more recently. I do remember being crazy about Davy Jones, Bobby Sherman, and David Cassidy. Also some really obscure ones--an (East) Indian boy whose name or the show he was on I can't even remember now, Rick Ely from a show about the American Revolution--can anyone help me out with either of those?--and Mitch Vogel, the red-headed boy who guest starred on Bonanza and Little House on the Prairie. And Ed Ames from Daniel Boone--though I saw him as REALLY old, which he probably was, compared to me LOL! Later, Alan Alda on MASH and Michael Landon as he appeared on Little House--I preferred the long hair. Still love to watch the last two, not too interested in the rest anymore--except in terms of not being able to remember everything about the ones I need help with....and continuing interests in the Monkees' music, American history, and India.

My first childhood crush was Nancy McKeon from "The Facts of Life".

When I was a little bit older I got into Nikki Cox from "Unhappily Ever After". Due to all the work she had done she's not so attractive anymore, unfortunately.

His cameo on Seinfeld was absolutely priceless!

As far as childhood crushes go, there was only one (way back in the
1950s): Annette Funicello of The Mickey Mouse Club, who was only a few years older than I was.

Today my prayers go out to her as she bravely battles MS.

Here she is in a scene from The Mickey Mouse Club serial "Annette."

OMG my husband was apparently nuts about her--and as far as I know has never had another celebrity crush in his life! (Though he did admit when we saw "City of Angels" that Meg Ryan was kinda cute LOL!)

Could the boy from India be Sajid Khan of NBC's Maya, by any chance?
The series ran from 1967 to 1968 and co-starred Jay North. It was filmed on
location in India. Maya was the name of their elephant. Rick Ely starred in
NBC's The Young Rebels, from 1970 to 1971.

OMG yes those are the things I was trying to remember! Thanx for the info. Whatever happened to either of those actors?!

And if Maya was on in the late 60's, OMG I started early having crushes LOL--I was not even a teenager then! And of course I had forgotten Jay North was also on that show--now I recall crushing on him a bit then too OMG! I know he was Dennis the Menace but that was a bit before my time.
