Default Sliding glass door in parents' bedroom?

Watch the very first moment of this clip (inside the bedroom). Does there appear to be a sliding glass door in the parents' bedroom?

That would indicate that some kind of patio or balcony was outside their bedroom. I have estimated before that that would be overlooking the patio outside. (I also wondered if that mysterious door at the top of the stairs led to the upstairs balcony, and they just chose not to use all the features built in the house.)

What do you think?

If it's not a sliding glass door, it is a huge window!

Cool

I think it's just a big window since no balcony is ever referenced or seen in the entire series.

In the book TV Sets: Fantasy Blueprints of Classic TV Homes by Mark Bennett, the author shows Mike & Carol's room having windows in that corner. He places Mike & Carol's bedroom over the breakfast table and family room. The window in this episode would overlook the back yard.

He has the "mystery door" as a closet. The girls' room has no house under it in these plans. The boys' room is over Alice's bedroom and the laundry room.

The author's disclaimer is, "Being human, I realize that there are less than perfect details in these imaginary blueprints." He realizes sometimes the blueprints (and the house in the show) do not match what they would need to be "in the real world".

If there is a sliding glass door in the parent's bedroom, it's safe to say that it probably doesn't have any glass in it.

I would disagree with that. The parent's bedroom is over the kitchen area because there is obviously something there. That would leave plenty of room for the boys' room above Alice, and the girls' room would be directly over the den.

The girls' room is also in the same shape as the den (with the many angled walls) as neither is rectangular in shape.

There are also shots from the girl's bedroom to the backyard in some episodes.

I didn't write the book or draw the blueprints, but here are some scans that I made of what the author thinks the Brady house looks like.

I've seen that map before. Two things that are off: (1) the girls' room and the den are both rectangular. (2) The other is that the hallway upstairs is going straight ahead. (It actually is shown turning to the left on some of the show's episodes.)

My map would have the girls' room directly over the den and overlooking the backyard, just like the window in the den looks into the backyard.

Here is a clip showing the girls' room directly over the den.

There are no plans for the Brady Bunch that would match evertying shown in the episodes, just as no state could possibly have the same characteristics depicted in The Simpsons.

Sure looked like a sliding glass door to me.

Those blueprints look about right. I can see the master bathroom not being too big.

Maybe they kept the curtains open when they weren't getting their groove on.
