Can the color of a cat's eyes change?

My cat Romeo has dark green eyes. For some reason in one picture however his eyes appear blue. Here are two pictures. Clearly in one picture his eyes are green.

P.S. I saw him on top of my sister's old dresser and took the pictures.

Honestly Jenny, his eyes look green in both pictures, to me.

The way I understand it eye color is determined genetically which means eye color is determined before birth and cannot be changed. Eye color may look different depending on the angle at which your looking at the eyes and light conditions but that is just an optical illusiion.

Oh ok.

Thanks. I thought that in the second picture his eyes looked blue to me. Of course, with my poor vision it probably just looked like that.

It would be neat if they could change eye color, though. I wouldn't put it past them; cats are pretty awesome critters!

Btw, Romeo is a very pretty kitty!

i cant tell with my cat,he wears sunglasses all the time. he's cool,man.

Here's Polly. She has green eyes, but in the picture of her as a kitten, the blue is from my jeans.

I've heard that orange cats are almost always quite people friendly, and personal experience tends to confirm this. Can't say I've ever met one that wasn't nice.

Anybody else have any thoughts on this?
