How many of you have experienced "burn out" with your favorite shows? That is, you went through a period where you watched the episodes so many times you kind of burnt out on it for a while and needed to take a break from it to gather some perspective?
It happened to me with Barney Miller, Star Trek, and the British "Are You Being Served?" That's not to say I stopped liking the shows, just that I needed a break from them. Same thing has happened with groups I love. I went through a period in high school and college where I listened to the Beatles so often I had to get away from them for a bit. Of course, after a break it's great to come back and appreciate the greatness all over again.

I've reached 'Burn Notice' burn-out. After sticking with the show since the beginning I finally stopped watching in the middle of the last batch of episodes. The whole 'clearing his name' storyline is starting to feel a little tedious. I also finally gave up on NCIS. It's still a fine show. I think I just watched too much of it in a relatively short period of time and now I need to distance myself a little. Another one I can think of is the Law and Order franchise. I used to watch all the Law and Order shows but haven't watched a single episode now in about five or six years. They are very well done but I just got tired of the formula. And then there are shows that I keep giving up on and then going back to, like Smallville and Vampire Diaries.

Happens to me all the time. Whenever this occurs i just place a Bookmark in the DVD Case to mark where the last episode I watched was, then get another Series I haven't watched in a while and go through those for a while. Variety is the spice of life!
