Back around 1990, in North Augusta S.C. there was a guy in town who specialized in car stereo installs as a side job. I was getting some work done and he stated in casual conversation that "Unsolved Mysteries" was coming to profile his girlfriends fathers disappearance, and had hoped it would bring some closure for her.....I cant remember the name.....but the details were as follows:
1) his car (Ford Escort) was found abandoned up around the Clarks Hill / Lake Thurmond area down a dead end, desolate road. 2) the only strange "clue" was that there was a pair of gloves left on the stick shift. I can't remember any more details, at the time I didn't want to push for more details...Gerald seemed serious, but not in a way like going "overboard"..so I have no reason to doubt his girlfriends father had gone missing. I have watches UM originals, the Spike and Lifetime shows and never recall anything....I have even searched the web and can't find anything....it would help if I could remember the mans name! If this was never made into a segment perhaps someone knows if any other shows or websites reported on it. It interests me because as teens we would go to the lake area at night and it can be a really spooky place. Sorry for the lack of details...if anyone knows anything about this please post. Have a great day! |

It doesn't sound familiar. Maybe the person you spoke with was mistaken and was actually thinking of another TV show, like Missing/Reward (which was in production at the time) or America's Most Wanted? Or maybe UM was planning to do a segment on the case, only to have it called off before filming could begin?
In any case, I don't remember UM profiling any case involving gloves being left on a stick shift. |
