Thumbs up Kenny Lofton working with the Indians!!

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseb...68714318_x.htm

CLEVELAND (AP) — Kenny Lofton will coach the Cleveland Indians in running the bases and running down fly balls.

The former speedy center fielder, who won four Gold Gloves and is the club's career leader in stolen bases, will coach for two weeks at training camp in Goodyear, Ariz. A five-time All-Star in Cleveland, Lofton batted .299 in 17 major league seasons.

Lofton was inducted into the Indians Hall of Fame last year.

He finished his playing career with 622 steals. He led the AL five straight seasons in steals bases from 1992-96, swiping a single-season club record 75 bases in 1996.

I wish that Lofton can put The Indians head-to-head with The Red Sox and Yankees, like they did in the mid to late 90's!

Thumbs up

I've always loved Kenny - when he ran from second base to score on that passed ball in the 1995 ALCS against Randy Johnson was one of the greatest moments in recent Cleveland sports history. He just husted the whole way. I remember watching that game and I was just screaming. I KNEW we had the pennant at that moment - and we won that game, and the ALCS. I still get chills when I see that clip.

Besides, Kenny was/is a class act on and off the field. He never got involved in any scandals, always gave 110%, and I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone (or vice versa). I also think it is so great that he still loves the city, team and the fans so much and he has always been so vocal about it. That's why the fans loved and still love him back!!

someone here might know alot more about kenny lofton and his fans than i do but i read in a book that once a little boy asked him for an autograph when he was getting out of a taxi and had his hands full of luggage and when the kid asked him for the autograph kenny screamed at him CANT YOU SEE IVE GOT MY HANDS FULL and made the kid cry but it sounds to me that it may have been a onetime thing does anyone agree?

I never heard that story, but then again, everyone has bad days and famous people aren't exempt. The good thing is that we regular folks don't have our bad days broadcast on a national scale!
