I'm a huge fan of the KOQ, but....was the king of queens a honeymooners rip off? Could that be the reason why this show never won any Enmys?

Well, I've heard that the creators and writers were inspired by "THE HONEYMOONERS".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall they even did an episode in
black-&-white as an homage to The Honeymooners. |

you're right; they did. But it wasn't the entire show, it was one segment that was a parody of "THE HONEYMOONERS" with Doug & Carrie as Ralph and Alice (of course) and Deacon as Ed Norton.
The plot was, Doug fell asleep, and he felt so guity about having lied to Carrie about something earlier; that he dreamed he was a character caught lying in "THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS", "THE HONEYMOONERS", something else (I forget what) and an old TV movie called "Brians Song". |
