Even though recent Rolling Stones albums like Bridges to Babylon and A Bigger Bang are good (maybe even great compared to many of today's artists) I think most people will agree that the Stones haven't had a truly exceptional album in a very long time. Many people regard 1981's Tattoo You as their last great album and some will go as far back as 1978's Some Girls. Which do you think was the band's last truly great album?
I know that my pick will surprise some people since its a favorite of very few but I think the Stones last great album is 1983's Undercover. I know many fans consider this album a career low point but I think its filled with a lot of raw energy and the songs are simply great. |

Sticky Fingers. Exile On Main St. is too bloated, and nothing that came after it can truly be considered "great."

You would not consider even Some Girls to be great? |

You know, I just listened to Some Girls for the first time in probably eight or nine years, and I have to concede that it's much better than I remember it. I may have to change my vote.
Tattoo You's good, but it's more of a hodgepodge of leftover songs from the nine-year span that preceded it than an album proper. |

The only Rolling Stones album I heard from first track to last track is "Their Satanic Majesty's Request", or as I would like to call it "Their Attempt to be The Beatles".

Well...The Rolling Stones did have one #1 album in the 60's and two more in the 80's. |
