KISS Merch to Die For... Literally
Feb. 15, 2011 by Gregory Burkart Rock gods KISS made the news 10 years ago when they rolled out (ouch) their own line of custom coffins bearing the band's logo and likeness. Not just for show, either. “KISS Kaskets” were the real deal (metal legend Dimebag Darrell was buried in one), and the limited-run originals cost around $5000 – long out of financial reach for many hardcore fans who wanted to take their love of the band to the ultimate extreme. But this week KISS has finally released a a less expensive second-gen model... so start saving up now! A company called Eternal Image announced the arrival of the new caskets on the KISSonline official site: “Our KISS caskets offer fans a unique expression of their love for this iconic rock band,” said Nick Popravsky, Eternal Image's VP of Sales & Marketing. “KISS fans worldwide have been awaiting these products and we've even received product inquiries from as far away as The Netherlands.” The standard line, which sells for $3299, is made of 20-gauge steel (the originals were solid bronze) and is graced with the original band members' 1978 solo album portraits, black interior lining and the KISS logo on the head panel. The graphic layout is described as “more subtle” than the premium edition (although “subtle” is not really a word that springs to mind for this kind of thing), which sports a wicked flame job and is priced a bit higher at $3999. The company even provides a service hotline for funeral industry professionals interested in adding the models to their inventory... but you can special-order your own to save time. Drop by the KISS online store to pick out your favorite. Keep in mind it takes 3 to 4 weeks for delivery, so plan ahead! http://www.fearnet.com/news/b21746_k...literally.html |

COOL!!!!! I've always wanted to be buried in one of those. Of course, I'm in no big hurry yet. I still have got a lot of rocking to do in this life before the next. I want to turn my passing into a rock 'n' roll event. KISS KOFFINS!!!!!!

I'm no rush as well, but I plan on being cremated so I don't think I'd use one for myself. I didn't decide yet on what is to be done with my ash. If I had the space available I'd get one just for collectibility; they can be used as coolers. |

Gene Simmons shows his good taste by using Klassic KISS images.
